This was good! Love a traditional Italian made sandwich. As a New Yorker, a proper sandwich will be praised. Fresh made Italian hero w/ sesame seeds my fav. Fresh made mozzarella. Peppers were made fresh as well. It’s pricey, but for the amount of food you get it’s worth it, quality is unmatched. Very nice staff, was greeted. Place is clean. I will be back.

Cappone’s Salumeria—Italian Sandwich Precision at Its Finest

Some places aren’t trying to be discovered. Cappone’s Salumeria, tucked into the quiet charm of Abingdon Square, is exactly that kind of place — and the regulars coming in and out would probably prefer it stayed that way.

This is a no-nonsense Italian sandwich shop with 50-plus years of family tradition behind it, and every inch of the place knows it.

I ordered the Cappone Hero — capicola, soppressata, salami, provolone, arugula, fresh mozzarella, hot peppers, finished with extra virgin olive oil and crema di balsamico — and it proceeded to make every hero I’d had before it feel like it owed me an apology.

The bread was absolutely standing on business— that crisp shell giving way immediately to something soft, warm, with a whisper of salt that ties it all together.

The balance is what sealed it — the layered bite of the meats, the cool creaminess of the mozzarella, that drizzle of oil tying the whole thing together.

Some sandwiches feed you…this one converts you.

You’ve been warned.

Sandwich is absolutely awesome and the staff was cool. Atmosphere was amazing. You would think they were there for 50 years. The food was displayed and looks so good, and the best part is it tasted so good. Definitely pricey, but you pay for what you get. The quality is there. Bread was on point, which is big with me. I had a chicken Parm and it hit. Will be back.

This place is fun. The bathroom has old Italian pictures on it from the 1950s so the gals were very sexy to look at even though the sodas were just OK. The bathroom is super clean. The store is just as clean. It’s an interesting location more in the West Village. There’s three steps you have to climb. It’s not really handicap friendly because of this, but once you climb the stairs outside and inside it’s a fun place to run around. I got the Capone’s with semolina bread and asked for red wine vinegar which they do have come by say hi. Enjoy the food and you will be totally experience in the old style of Italianheroes beautifully wrapped beautifully stuffed and most of all they listen to the customer suggestions I got takeout, which was much better since I had a limited time span and I brought it home. Enjoyed it while watching TV come on bye say hi and leave with very fond memories of this place Capones

Waited 40 min for my sandwich to be made. Very little room to wait (constantly in the way)
Bread was over toasted, so dry and super dry chicken cutlet inside. Very thin, felt cheap on portioning.
Was barely hot, no napkins provided.
Definitely not worth the Almost $30 I spent including tip
Big let down

I had stopped by after seeing all the high ratings and I had got a sandwich called Vito, which is salami, mozzarella, artichokes and Olive paste.

Overall the sandwich was quite large and weighing in at about $17 so I did feel like I got my money’s worth… Full for the rest of the day…

The sandwich itself was tasty and the staff was friendly. One minor note that the olive paste was slightly watery I like it a little bit more briny..not the end of the world…Very cozy spot overall, and plenty of seating

I would definitely go back and try their other sandwiches. A nice change of pace and clever mix of ingredients… I have not seen that before…

Very Italian feel to the restaurant!

This is one of the best sandwiches we’ve ever had. We ordered another one to go. Looking forward to eating it. I’ll come back and give it a review/ we ordered the chicken cutlet hot honey on semolina. Talk about flavor, and the texture on the toasted bread was pure perfection! We can’t wait to come back!!! Thank you for such wonderful sandwich and service!

Very good sandwich spot. We got the tuna and the chicken parm sandwiches, both generous, well-seasoned, and made with amazeeee bread. It’s casual, quick, and super good — a bit of a hidden gem. feels like you’re in italy and escaping the city. Would 100% return for an easy and delicious lunch.

The sandwich is pretty good actually but they took forever to prepare my order I waited like 20 minutes and the store wasn’t that busy. The sandwich is also quite expensive
