We spent about $130 including tips so I would say that the food was good but they should definitely give more tartar sauce and a normal portion of fries since mine was half of what my friend got. The food was hot. Everyone was smiling, nice, cool breeze, and looking at the inlet and all the people out. Crapping was cool.
That said, I actually stopped going this year. Over the past few summers, I noticed they were giving way more fries than actual whole belly clams. It got disappointing after a while.
But today, on a whim, we decided to give it another shot and wow, I’m glad we did. When we got home and opened up the box, there were at least three dozen fresh, perfectly fried whole belly clams in each order. I even had leftovers. Still sitting on a dozen!
Their coleslaw has always been a favorite of mine, and the fries are still solid too. I really hope they keep this up. Consistency is everything it’s what keeps people coming back, and unfortunately, too many places forget that. Today, though, Salty reminded me why I loved it in the first place.
Biggest drawback was the wait: about 10 minutes in line and then 35 minutes to actually get the food, which felt long for a casual shack-style spot.
Overall, decent food (especially the fries), but be prepared for a wait and a coleslaw that’s more sweet than tangy.
Food is delicious, service is amazing, and did I mention the food is delicious? I have taken a photo of their menu as well as prices. One fish and chips is enough for 2 people. Good sized portion which reasonable prices.
I have nothing negative to say about this place. They are fantastic . We did have to wait 45 minutes but we didn’t mind as there’s an area for kids to play and nice picnic tables to sit at.
Enjoy!!
The fries were very crunchy and potatoey!
It wasn’t busy when we went around 6:15pm on a Sunday evening. I can see how the different windows for food, alcohol, and ice cream could keep the lines somewhat controlled during a busier time.
Expect the prices to be fresh, seafood prices at a beach restaurant. Our scallop basket was $35 and worth it for the amount and size of the SEA scallops they gave us!
I’m not taking away a star because the food wasn’t what I’m “used to”. The scallops were like breaded rather than completely covered and fried. There was more delicious thick scallop to eat! The New England clam chowder was more soupy rather than thick. I figured this was how they made their for and it was good for that reason.
It was a beautiful evening and the outdoor dine out atmosphere was very nice.
Really enjoyed the food here. Excellent fish and chips! Staff was working like crazy to keep up with the orders. Hats off to them! Chips were wonderful. It really was a good evening out with family.
Would’ve given 5 stars. The wait of over 45 minutes was a bit long. Imagine, watching others eating their delicious meals and us, mouths watering for so long! Oh, what torture!!
Joking aside, it was wonderful. Don’t know about the other menu items, but the fish and chips were lekker!!!
