Slick Rock offered fresh ingredients, great tortillas, fresh beans, a variety of fresh salsas, and hot salsas that actually have some kick. I had a burrito with black beans, cilantro lime rice, ghost pepper salsa, steak, chipotle sour cream, lettuce, and verde sauce with a side of guacamole; I opted for the regular flour tortilla, which was fresh and delicious.
I was so impressed with my burrito and all the offerings I had to choose from that I was reading about the business history after I ate. 🙂 Slick Rock was doing the build-your-own burrito, burrito bowls and quesadillas before Chipotle even existed.
Love that they run such a tightly focused menu and clean restaurant with a cool vibe (there was a great music track playing). No uniforms, a real locally owned business, and it is real food.
I think burritos and Mexican food are some of the more complicated cuisine because of so many ingredients, and so many of the ingredients need to be fresh; it is a real labor of love. Canned beans suck, and if a place doesn’t make their own fresh tortillas or purchase their tortillas from a local tortillería, I don’t even bother.
A lot of places make fresh salsas, but most often they are nowhere near the quality and as good as what Slick Rock is producing.
It’s a ton of work to prepare all these delicious ingredients into the magic of tortillas, beans, proteins, salsas, and all the fresh accoutrements.
Slick Rock is well worth frequent visits; you won’t get bored easily with all the tasty variations you can enjoy, and you won’t have to feel any guilt because it is healthy delicious wholesome food!

Fantastic place. I had the Thai burrito (peanut sauce) and it was amazing. Nice kick with some cooling sauce cream and cabbage slaw. Wonderful. I’ll be back.

I am always working in the south hill neighborhood, but haven’t found a solid food place for my taste. That all changed today when I tried out the Barbecue burrito from slick rock. It was large, filled with flavor and ingredients. It was most certainly filling. The staff was very quick and efficient as well as friendly. I highly recommend this place. I know I will be back.

The people here were so kind! We were impressed by their vast menu with unique options. We opted for a Thai peanut burrito and the bbq one. Both were smothered and made very quick! We were starving, so the meal did its job and had great potential! the peanut sauce is overwhelmingly peanuty. I would suggest dialing that back and perhaps seasoning the meat a little more. Overall, this turned out to be a fast friendly place to grab lunch 🙂 thanks for having us!

I had the best chicken quesadilla with the garlic herb tortilla. Hubby tried the salsa tortilla for his chicken quesadilla and he loved it. It was very flavorful and filling, and definitely one of our new favorite restaurants.
I brought a chicken burrito home for our son and he loved it.
The staff is amazing!!

For a couple decades, Slickrock consistently serves high-quality ingredients that’s attracted a loyal fan base. Custom order your burrito, or bowl, or choose tasty items from the menu board like Thai chicken. The owner frequently is behind the counter rolling up burritos and making sure you’re going to love what you eat. Indoor seating only. One last tip, don’t be on your phone when ordering-they like to keep the line moving, which I appreciate.

Customer service- 2/5 staff isn’t friendly, no uniforms and lack luster service.
Cleanliness- 2/5 restaurant is dirty and extremely outdated.
Food- 1/5 tried a chicken quesadilla and it was dry with no flavor
Overall it’s a wannabe chipotle but isn’t a hit. Not sure if any fresh ingredients are used. Would be nice to see them make their own tortillas like Costa Vida.

Best vegan Thai burrito in town. I have been eating these for now about 15 years and they are fantastic. I really wish they would offer a seasoned tofu option. That’s the only thing that I feel is lacking. Keep up the great work.
