The food was great (I just like more seasoning). Every dish we ordered was cooked corectly and the waitstaff ensure we were happy before leaving the table. I highly recommend the fried green tomatoes and the buttermilk pancakes – both were absolutely delicious. Nice portion sizes, making for a truly satisfying meal.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was also fantastic. The decor was charming and inviting, and the staff was attentive and accommodating. We felt right at home and thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience.
Overall, I can’t recommend Poogan’s Southern Kitchen highly enough. From the food to the service to the atmosphere, everything was top-notch. If you’re looking for a fantastic Southern dining experience in Forest Acres, Poogan’s Southern Kitchen is the place to go.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4 stars)
We recently dined at Poogan’s Southern Kitchen and had a mixed but largely positive experience. First off, the food was absolutely delicious, with generous portions that left us more than satisfied. The staff was friendly and provided courteous service, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. Impressively, despite being a large group of 7, we were seated with minimal wait time, which was a pleasant surprise.
However, our visit did come with a notable concern. Upon arrival, we were informed that our party would have to split into two different booths, each with a separate server, and that we would receive one check per grouping. Understanding the constraints, we agreed to this arrangement. Unfortunately, this setup meant we weren’t able to actively engage with half of our party during the meal, which detracted from the group dining experience we were looking forward to.
Adding to our disappointment, both groups were charged a large party fee on our respective checks. This was surprising and a bit frustrating, considering we were effectively separated into smaller parties with different servers, on opposite sides. It seemed incongruent with the reasoning behind a large party fee, given the division.
In summary, while the food and service at Poogan’s Southern Kitchen are commendable, the handling of our large group and the unexpected charges left a bittersweet taste. We hope that feedback like ours will encourage a reevaluation of policies regarding large groups, ensuring future diners can enjoy their meals to the fullest, regardless of party size.

The Ms had the bone-in fried chicken dinner.($22) She rated it 3 stars. I tasted it.. It was just okay.. the sides were decent. Her collard greens were a bit too salty for me, but she liked them. The black eyed peas and rice were pretty good.(hopping John with country ham)
I had the sweet tea glazed salmon with sweet potato puree, field pea & corn succotash.( $25)
At first, I couldn’t understand the mix.. There are too many tastes fighting for placement on my pallets. After the butter melted, the meal was pretty good. I think it might be better with regular mashed potatoes, though. The side of Mac and cheese … was very disappointing. If you can’t make a better Mac n cheese than Chick-fil-A, you can’t call yourself a southern kitchen. It was a white cheese soup mix of saltiness. I was hoping for a homemade hunk of sharp, mild, smoked cheese loveliness. Please work on changing that. We’ll give you guys another try in the future. Breakfast preferably. ✌
