An experience to remember! We ordered the tasting menu which was “5 courses”. By the end of the night we had tasted 15 different dishes. The food was exquisite – more so than most Michelin starred meals we have had. The flavors and combinations were brilliantly creative and flawlessly executed. The service was impeccable, the view stunning, and the vibe perfect. The chef/owner Vinnie personally presented every dish and the entire team made us feel like VIPs.

Eclectic little restaurant at the top of the hill. Dining experience for sure and the food was incredible. Each dish is served by the chef as he finishes plating your food. I would rate this a must forvyour st john vacation.

Pros: The food tasted amazing, the view was incredible, and they accepted Venmo. Cons: Small portions, if it’s raining- expect to get at least somewhat wet, and meal tickets cannot be split when you have a large party (not a big deal, but not ideal). Overall, it’s worth a trip!

Really the best restaurant on the island. The atmosphere was great, both relaxed and upscale at the same time. The food was all pretty delicious and were presented beautifully. We got the welcome plate, the tuna rose, the ragu and the chicken and dessert was the chocolate mousse! All were delicious.

If I can leave 10% feedback (which is my way of saying, if there could be just 10% improvement) it would be that the bar seating needs a bit of air/fan (it got really hot and all the fans were pointed at the tables. We had a windless night so after a while it felt really stuffy). The chicken and tuna rose were on the saltier side. The chicken was cooked perfectly but some bites were very salty.

Overall we loved it here and will be back on our next trip!

STJ Speakeasy is newer to the island but their team includes many restaurant veterans of St. John, bringing the best of the best together for one very special dining experience. From the atmosphere, to the delicious food, fresh & tasty drinks, this spot has it all! We really enjoyed our dinner! We opted for the tasting menu which was so fun to be able to experience a little bit of everything off the menu! We look forward to our next dinner at the STJ Speakeasy!

On a recent trip to St. John, we had several options for dinner one evening. On the recommendation of our innkeeper, we decided to give Speakeasy a go. So glad we did! Don’t be fooled by appearances… a couple of decorated shipping containers with a roof thrown up in between is what you see. Once there, however, you’ll find one of the best restaurants on St. John!

We had a delightful dinner, sitting at the bar, waited on by a real character, who said her name was “Mary” that night. She was fantastic! Lots of locals there, regulars, always a good sign! Great view of the sunset from the entire place, and our seats at the bar.

The drinks and food were both fantastic! Creative craft cocktails are the star! The menu is local, but chef-inspired infusions of incredible flavors. We shared ceviche, fresh catch and the truffled foie gras… all were simply delicious! Key lime pie to die for! We’ll definitely be back next time we visit the island! Highly recommend Speakeasy!

This was a beautiful, cozy experience. I sat at the bar (for one) and Kim the bartender was very attentive and knowledgeable. I got the tasting menu and was very specific about my dietary restrictions (pescatarian, no red meat, no shellfish). Each of the five courses was a menu item, beautifully plated, exquisitely delicious, and so tasty I would take a bite and just sit in wonder over how delicious it was. The music was not so loud that people had to shout to be heard. It was an entirely wonderful experience. Chef Vinny even walks the plates out to each table himself, talking with each guest and explaining the food. He asked me personally about my tastes in dessert and brought me the most amazing strawberry sorbet.

I went here last night. The staff is very professional, both front and back of house.

Watching the staff operate was a pleasure.
Everyone was in the zone and the floor operated like a philharmonic orchestra.

The food was incredible. I usually eat a moderately strict diet, which I cook myself, but food like this is why I don’t want to have any permanent dietary restrictions.

The conch soup dish was life changing. The texture and flavor were otherworldly.

I started out with one dish and a couple sides, and had to order more!

Ok here goes my compliment sandwich. Food was good quality, flavors were nice. However everything was very small and left us hungry. We ordered what we thought would be enough for five. The waiter was very nice and honest that what we ordered was “enough for two people.” We were flabbergasted, because the prices were very high for each dish. And the setting of a food truck in a parking lot with a plywood covering doesn’t justify NYC prices, even on this island. We were then just further frustrated by them throwing an auto-gratuity of 20% on a bill for 5 people, AND told us they only took cash or Venmo (for $7 more). They must be making a great margin on this food with low overhead and then refusing credit card, probably to avoid fees. Here’s for the flavors review: conch soup (decent but very rubbery, probably just how conch is). Cobb salad, which was tasty, cool presentation but small/miniscule. Corn chowder with shrimp, best dish of the bunch! Lamb ragu, was good, barely remember it from yesterday. Catch of the day in coco curry was nice flavor but very small, not a whole fish, not even a whole fillet for $46. “Family style” sides of ratatouille and cauliflower, which were not family style in size, but only in presentation as they came in a tiny bowl with a spoon.
