Service was organised from the start. They called out our name and number from the waitlist and got us seated outside while waiting, which made the process feel smooth and fair. Once inside, the ambience was lovely and comfortable.

Food was very good overall. The platter was a great way to sample a mix of dishes, and the sun-dried pork was especially tasty and full of flavour. A well-rounded dining experience, would return.

This is hands down, a must-try restaurant for authentic, very traditional Northern Thai cuisine in Chiang Mai!
We ordered several dishes, and truly, every single one was spectacular. You must start with the famous Northern Thai Hors d’oeuvres (Khantoke style) to get a taste of everything. The Awng Crab is also exceptionally good and highly recommended.
A surprising favorite was the Fish Sauce Pork! The pork itself was perfectly cooked, but the accompanying dipping sauce elevates the dish completely—it’s wonderfully aromatic, bursting with flavor from grilled shallots and chilies.
Important Tip: Due to its popularity, be prepared for a queue, as they do not accept reservations. But trust me, the incredible, authentic flavors make the wait absolutely worthwhile!

Here for the kao soi and other authentic northerm food. Busy street, yet parking is not an issue when there’s parking for guests opposite of the restaurant with an Uncle looking after.
Food wise, i’m not really into Northern food but companion find it good. Moo kob its too hard to chew. We are here for the experience so its great. This is the only northern food restaurant we tried for this trip.
We queue for about 15-20mins for our turn past lunch time on weekend. Its pretty normal.

Huen Muan Jai is one of the best places in Chiang Mai to experience truly authentic Northern Thai food. Their Sai Ua (Northern Thai sausage) is incredibly flavorful, perfectly spiced, and tastes so fresh. The fried pork belly is super crispy on the outside and tender inside — a must-try! The atmosphere feels local and cozy, making the meal even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to taste real Northern Thai flavors.

Visiting Huen Muan Jai truly tested our patience, as reservations can only be made on the spot. There were easily 30 groups of two to three diners ahead of us.

Despite the long queue, we were seated after about 40 minutes. While waiting, we had the chance to explore the sprawling compound, which explained the quick table turnover.

The setting felt wonderfully rustic, almost like dining in nature, surrounded by lush shrubs and plants.

We ordered a mix of Northern Thai specialties along with a few recommendations from the service crew. The Or Derp Muang (Northern Thai appetizer) at THB 290 was an excellent sampler and a great introduction to the region’s cuisine.

Throughout the meal, the staff were attentive and always served us with warm, cheerful smiles.

One of the best Lana restaurants in Chiang Mai probably. Food is excellent and prices reasonable. As it is an open-air place, there are quite a lot of flies. So keep on waving. : )

This restaurant is truly a Michelin Star restaurant.
We choose their popular Northern Thai Appetizer Plater as we would like to taste everything a-little bit and that dish is a super 5⭐️with two dips, chiang mai sausage, fried chicken, pork curry and veggies.
The yellow one is for soup with cat fish, bamboo shoots and the taste is spicy and sour. The fried veggies (I don’t know the name in English) but Chiang-da is really soft and perfect blend with egg.
One thing I like about the service is that the staffs are not hanging around while customers are eating. They go outside of the eating space and overview from there what needed and go directly to that customer without disturb other customers (Cheers to that)

Long queue when we arrived around 12:30. Found that big group of people like 9-10 people can get a table much faster. Waited around 40 minutes to get a table for small group.
Good to get a platter to try the variety of dishes. Both the egg omelette and pumpkin root fried egg are delicious. The other local veggies dish with fried eggs already sold out.
The restaurant is large with some area having air con.

Delicious food that tastes just like home-cooked meals from mom’s kitchen! Authentic Northern Thai flavors — rich, comforting, and satisfying. The restaurant is spacious and welcoming, with reasonable prices. It can get a bit busy, so you might need to wait for a table, but it’s definitely worth it for the great food and local taste! No wonder they’ve been awarded a Michelin Star for five consecutive years!
