Steak ‘n Shake, a classic American brand, was founded in 1934 in Normal, Illinois by Gus Belt who pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milkshakes. For over 85 years, the company’s name has been symbolic of its heritage. The word steak stood for steakburger. The term shake stood for hand-dipped milkshakes. Gus was determined to serve his customers the finest burgers and shakes in the business. Today, Steak ‘n Shake remains the better burger leader, serving premium 100% beef steakburgers, hand-dipped milkshakes, thin crispy fries, and more. Steakburgers are made without preservatives or artificial ingredients, topped with fresh produce, and always hand-crafted to order.
Chain known for steakburgers & milkshakes offering a dinerlike space with retro flair.

Reviews
Pros:
Decent burgers made to order
Good prices and nice combos
Great atmosphere
Cons:
Have to order through kiosk
Drink prices are expensive
Service doesn’t seem personal due to kiosk ordering
My shake tasted like burnt plastic. I thought I was the straw so I tossed it and got a spoon. The whip cream tasted good, the chocolate candy bar pieces tasted good but the ice cream itself tasted like burnt plastic.
This leads me to believe it’s the ice cream machine itself breaking down internally and/or not being cleaned correctly. Please get this machine properly cleaned and maintenanced.
I normally visit the location on Stop 11 and 31. I was running late on my lunch hour, so I stopped at 135. I ordered a cup of chili and a double with cheese, mayo, and pickle.
The chili was piping hot and full of meat, which is quite a shock because the Stop 11 location is usually all beans. The hamburger came in a box and wrapped in paper, too. It had crispy edges, the perfect amount of mayo – not globby, and the pickles had an actual crunch to them.
The gentleman at the drive thru was super nice and had a great attitude.
As long as they keep this up, I will be a long-time customer at this location!
