Manny at Benihana was absolutely AMAZING! From the moment we were seated, his service was top-tier attentive, friendly, and genuinely made us feel welcomed. I was celebrating my birthday, and Manny went above and beyond to make it special. He brought such great energy, checked on us often, and made sure everything was perfect. Our night was a bit of a disaster. Our server was inexperienced and snippy, the food took more than 2 hours total and the manager appeared to be flustered and annoyed that he even had to speak to me.
I made a reservation and arrived a few minutes before my time. I was sat immediately. The server came to the table when all parties had been sat and explained for about 5 mins about the new steak and butter accompaniments. She took my drink order and brought it to the table a few minutes later. All good so far.
Immediately following the soup and salad drop off our server disappeared for no less than 45 minutes… I had to grab the manager while he was running by so I could get another drink. I had explained that my server had been gone for a while and he must have said something about it to her because after he dropped off the drinks and she finally came back to check on us she was very short and snippy. After the chef finished it took another 20 minutes for her to check on the table again. I had to ask for the ice cream that was included as part of the meal I had and when it finally came there could not have been more than half an ounce placed on the teaspoon in the bowl. I have a picture of this as well. I grabbed the manager so i could ask about the ice cream and he appeared to be annoyed that I was even speaking to him, for example wouldn’t even look in my direction while he was talking to me. Almost like he was just waiting for me to accept his lackluster explanation. His answer was that it is a 3oz portion of ice cream and my server was an 18 year old girl who didnt know any better. I told him that I had maybe half an ounce and if he would look at the bowl he could see what I was trying to show him. Setting aside the mildly patronizing answer of “she’s an 18 year old girl.” This was not an unreasonable customer complaining about a teenage server. My whole meal was a series of misses by the whole team including the manager.
The service recovery left such a bad impression that I felt compelled to write this.

We had such an amazing time at Benihana thanks to our incredible chef, Gabriel! From the moment he started cooking, his energy, skill, and personality lit up the table. He was entertaining, friendly, and made everyone feel welcome. The food was absolutely delicious — perfectly cooked steak, shrimp, and fried rice — and you could tell Gabriel takes real pride in what he does.
He went above and beyond to make sure everyone was happy, and his showmanship made the meal feel like a special event. It’s rare to find someone who can cook flawlessly and keep everyone laughing the entire time.

It was the best time ever! We had a super duper time. Our host was phenomenal the chef was entertaining and on point I believe his name was Gunnter but I called him Hunter. The presence was welcoming and clean with great hospitality. Before we left the manager took us a picture.
