Amazing experience! The ingredients are extremely fresh, and every dish shows a great balance between quality and creativity. You can really tell that a lot of thought goes into each plate.

I’ve been to Umami Omakase, which is run by the same chef, and the quality here is just as high. Both restaurants maintain an excellent and consistent standard. What I especially like about this location is the flexibility — you can order individual dishes and choose exactly what you want to eat, but if you’re looking for a more complete experience, they also offer an omakase plate.

The service truly stands out. The staff are incredibly friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. They took the time to explain every dish in detail, which made the whole dining experience even more enjoyable. Overall, fantastic food, great service, and a place I would absolutely recommend and return to.

Another detail I really appreciated was how thoughtful they were about parking. Their website clearly provides parking suggestions, which made things so much easier. Thanks to that, my friends and I were able to relax, chat, and enjoy our meal for over two hours, and we only paid $3 for parking. That level of consideration really stood out to me, especially since many other restaurants don’t mention parking at all.

Really impressed with the sushi, ramen, service, and atmosphere. We had pork ribs that were tender and flavorful, shishito peppers, shrimp tempura roll, 1 order of akami nigiri and chi toro nigiri seared (that one is my highlight), Japanese wagyu nigiri, the spicy miso ramen. The cheesecake was the perfect size dessert not too sweet but very flavorful. Ate everything and I will order it all again soon. The cocktail list is so awesome, I had nigori sake but look forward to going back for a round of drinks as well.

Umami is on a much higher tier than the previous tenants here and all of the locals need to give this place a try. I’m really happy with the refresh inside and upscale vibe, a great addition to the north end.

Gary and the other servers were very informative, polite, and prompt. We look forward to letting them gear our tastes towards options on the menu in the future.

This place was a wonderful surprise in Boston. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, especially when it came to their extensive sake selection. The sushi was fresh and high quality, and the cooked dishes did not disappoint—chicken karaage, edamame, roasted corn, and gyoza were all flavorful and perfectly prepared. Definitely worth a visit.

The food can be a bit pricey, but it’s the best sushi I’ve ever had. The employees were incredibly friendly and I definitely plan on going back the next time I’m in Boston. Highly recommend the chef’s choice nigiri if you want a taste of everything they can offer, and I also thought the Toro Uni bite was fantastic.

Stopped in for dinner and was met with great hospitality. The dishes were presented beautifully and I enjoyed how each dish was described to me before I ate. There are both omakase service and à la carte sushi/nigiri/sashimi, so it’s perfect if you’re looking for variety.

The staff also accommodated my gluten and dairy dietary restrictions, including providing gluten-free soy sauce 🙂

I had a reservation at 6:30 PM and didn’t get seated until 7:00 pm after a couple who walked in after me and my partner which set a slightly sour mood for the start of the night. I could have dismissed this as they seemed incredibly short staffed with not a lot of room to wait near the door. We got the wrong order and never received one component of what we actually ordered, even when we asked for it. The server noticed this, went back to check, and then decided to let us keep the wrong order but never gave us what we were missing. The drinks and food were okay but not worth the delay. I understand they were very much extremely understaffed but they need a separate host role, as we watched the same person be our server, the bartender, and the host for the restaurant. They also need to either stop taking walk-ins after a certain time as we saw multiple parties with reservations wait >30 minutes for those who walked in. I think we would have had a better experience if they had more staff since drinks and food were not bad. The server was friendly enough but had too much on his plate to truly provide good service. The appetizers were amazing- chicken gyoza, shishito peppers, and then the stirfry noodles (without the chicken). Drinks were good- there’s an interesting jelly shot drink that’s basically a sake jell-o shot in a can. The actual sushi was mostly okay (although this portion experience is colored by not getting the right order).

We got the edamame and the chef’s choice 9 piece omakase! We were so pleasantly surprised, the fish was fresh and each piece was flavorful and well thought out. The chef also came by our table personally to tell us about each of the pieces. Definitely coming back here again to try out more of the menu.

We had an awesome experience, and a huge part of that was thanks to Yan. She was absolutely amazing from start to finish attentive without hovering, super friendly, and genuinely made us feel welcome.

Yan knew the menu inside and out and gave great recommendations that did not disappoint. The food was fantastic across the board fresh, flavorful, and came out quickly. You can tell the kitchen takes pride in what they’re putting out.
