The loosie meat sandwich meat was VERY dried out. We ordered (3) sandwiches – all 3 were terrible. Usually every time we drive by here we usually order….but not any more. We spent $18 for dried out sandwiches-took two bites and threw them out. You lost a customer.

We are a Maid Rite die hard family and since they have closed up in CR we needed a new spot. It was AMAZING delicious and my 90 yr old born n bred Cedar Rapids native approved. I had a rare occasion to have lunch in Cedar Rapids, so I chose a lunch place. The food was average. The service was friendly, but my sandwich can slathered in mustard and it was all over the wrapper and ended up on me and everywhere. Everything was fresh, just meh. It was a good place to try.

We went to Loosies today. They are always so pleasant. They greeted us right away. You order at the counter. I love the old diner feel. You can sit at the counter while they make your meal. They are always very willing to strike up a conversation if you are so inclined. These folks are great to chat with.
The sandwiches are yummy they do not skimp on the meat or condiments. The pasta salad is very tasty. We finished up with a Cherry malt.
When we arrived there were only two seats left but the crowd rotated through quickly. They knew several customers by name. In fact there was an older couple at the end of the counter Mike and Mary. Mike said he always feels like he is at home here.

Ordered take out for lunch. Got a chili dog and the all beef hotdog was the only saving grace. Chili was watery and had canned green beans in it??
Potato salad was so vinegary, it was barely edible ( and I LOVE vinegar potato salad). Macaroni was cafeteria quality made with velveeta cheese and cold. Not worth the price, in my opinion.

I wanted some amazing mac and cheese today so I headed to Loosies! I was excited to find out their special of the day is a loosie with their mac and cheese on it! The thought of two together as one seemed like a great idea!
It was amazing! I was on my lunch break from work so I ate it with a fork and knife but it could probably just be picked up as a normal sandwich. The loosie and its condiments had everything I was looking for in a sandwich and the mac elevated it in every way.
The extra mac and cheese was for my little, but he was more interested in running around the restaurant ♀️ Thank you to the other customers who tolerated him and my apologies.

The place smelled amazing walking in. Super small but quaint. Staff was friendly for the most part. My roommate ordered and then I stepped up to order and the lady walked away to look over warming pots and left me standing awkwardly but whatever. I travel for work and am on the road 99% of the time and it’s always nice to find food that tastes like home. It’s not overly processes ingredients. The baked beans and Mac n cheese are some of the best I’ve ever had. The chilli was good. I really liked the green beans. I will be adding green beans to my home chilli from now on. I read the review about the portion size for side orders to go and I can see that for $2.75 they were on the too small side. However, they quality was worth the price and also since covid costs of everything rose quickly and unevenly so I don’t know the cost of ingredients for restaurants but I can tell you I feel like I got my money’s worth and I will be coming back for beans and Mac n cheese.

If you’ve never been to Loosies then you need to go. They’re the best Loose Meat Sandwich Shop around by far. Their food is fresh & always delicious. I ordered the Loosie (w/pickles & mayo), a side of Mac & Cheese and a piece of the Tollhouse Pie. All were delicious but so is everything I’ve had here. There usually is a soup of the day that is obviously homemade but they do sell out sometimes, fyi. The building is immaculate but small so if you come during peak hours be prepared to order to go if you can’t wait for seating. There service time is usually very quick though which is nice if you are in a hurry.
