Last week, I was visiting with friends in Tampa. Since I’m from landlocked Illinois, I couldn’t wait to enjoy some seafood. So, we headed to Bar Fly in Safety Harbor. It was a great choice!
Our server, Montana, was exceptional! Thanks to her promptness, we wanted for nothing! Despite the fact that the restaurant was busy, she was friendly, helpful, and very attentive.
One of my friends had the grouper bites. I tried one and it was delicious. Another friend had the smash burger with bacon. It was huge! He said it was delicious. I ordered the Boca shrimp appetizer. Wow. It was so tasty. I also loved Bar Fly’s take on slaw. It has pineapple in it and it’s so good!
We shared a slice of Key Lime pie and a slice of peanut butter pie. We enjoyed the desserts.
I enjoyed the food so much, I asked them to take me back to Bar Fly the night before I left for home. Both visits were great! Thanks for your great food and hospitality! I’ll be back next visit!

Our server was friendly and attentive to our needs. We had great food. The lobster bites were tender and delicious. I had the clam chowder and it was delicious as well. Happy hour margaritas were good too. Take your family to enjoy the Island Tiki bar and grill vibes. 10 out of 10 highly recommended.

Josh was our server, he did an excellent job! Visited on MLK Monday, and it was busy! Our party of three all made great choices! We started with the conch fritters, with a pineapple salsa and a great mayo based sauce. Another appy was the parmesan roasted oysters, super yummy! A shrimp poboy, lobster sliders, with grits topped with guyere and a cup of lobster bisque! Our third entree was a spicy shrimp wrap with slaw and old bay chips. Dessert was the coconut cake, super yummy. Coffee never came out, as I said they were busy. But Josh was very attentive! Super fun spot with great food and nice decor!

Server Maddy was great, live music was awesome, food was delicious. We got the bowls. Mahi bowl and the salmon street corn bowl. Will say the protein amount was massive, but a little light on the rice and beans and other ingredients. Still good but a bit hungry still . Probably would get an appetizer next time if I was to get one of the bowls again.

Tried the Tuna poke bowl and salmon corn bowl. Both were ok, not my favorite. Didn’t love the flavor profile and asked for extra wasabi sauce which helped make the meal

2025.12.10 Some good happy hour specials at this bar restaurant. From the happy hour menu, we ordered $1 oysters, mahi fish dip, chips and queso, and 2 dozen clams in butter. On the regular menu, we had a double order of Lobster Nibbler and some stone crabs. I will visit again.

Don’t let the name or the exterior fool you. From the street, Barfly looks like it might just be a drinking spot, but once you step inside, it’s a fantastic restaurant with a laid-back Caribbean vibe. The atmosphere is relaxed and fun, the staff is welcoming, and the food seriously delivers.
Happy hour is a standout — $1 oysters is hard to beat. I ordered the fish and chips and it was so good I didn’t even wait to take a picture before diving in. Fresh, perfectly cooked, and generous portions.
Great food, great environment, and great staff. Barfly is one of those places you’re glad you didn’t judge by the name. Highly recommend. Make sure to ask for Eriq, great waiter!

Food was great. I love the smoked fish dip. Edamame with dip is good. The BarTender and wait staff is helpful and friendly. It’s a cute colorful casual place. I’ve been a few times with friends and will continue going back.

My friend and I have dined here previously and decided to have our birthday lunch celebration here yesterday afternoon, after some shopping at the market. The food was excellent!!
