Duke’s Kauai was the perfect final stop on our island hop from Oʻahu to Kauaʻi, especially before heading to the airport. The location near Lihue Airport is unbeatable after a full day of exploring.
We spent the day at Waimea Canyon and Poʻipū Beach, swimming, hiking, and spotting sea turtles, so we were very hungry. We had an early reservation and were seated quickly, and valet parking made arrival completely stress-free.
The restaurant is right on the water with beautiful views of the bay — beach volleyball, surfers, a stunning sunset, and even a lighthouse in the distance. The open-air design, indoor garden, and water features make the atmosphere feel relaxed and very “Hawaii.”
Food was excellent. I had the Huli Huli chicken and ribs, which were flavorful and filling. The Hawaiian macaroni salad was surprisingly delicious, and the cheeseburgers were a hit at our table. We didn’t have time for dessert, but the famous Hula Pie with macadamia nuts is high on my list for next visit. The salad bar also looked incredible.
Service was friendly, efficient, and perfect for travelers on a schedule — we never felt rushed but got out in plenty of time for our flight.
If you’re looking for a great restaurant near the Kauai airport with ocean views, solid food, and excellent service, Duke’s Kauai is absolutely worth it and lives up to the hype.

We visited this one and were NOT let down! With a gorgeous view of the harbour in Lihue and probably the coolest interior ever. The two story waterfall and Koi Pond are just awesome.
The food is the only thing better than the scenery. Absolutely mouthwatering!! An incredible experience with polite and energetic staff. If you don’t stop by, you are missing out!
First off, this place has an incredible atmosphere and views of the bay! That is awesome!
The service was good! Super nice staff!
The food however was average at best!
The prime rib was good, but lacked seasoning! The filet mignon was average! It seemed like it was a sirloin cut, not a filet mignon. Now prof of what it really was, but it left little to be desired!
This last experience will definitely make me thanks twice before coming back, especially due to the prices, vs quality!
Hope this helps! It could have been one time thing, so home it goes better for you! Aloha!
The waitress was very attentive, which again, I didn’t expect for a buffet. My water glass was never empty, and I go through water quickly.
There was also live music, which was really lovely. And they have a complimentary valet. We had reservations, but I don’t think they were necessary. Probably during the summer months it would be.
