First off, I like their chili well enough to buy it in the supermarket container. It’s not my favorite, but for store-bought it’s solid. The fries were also good. That said, I was really disappointed in the hotdogs. The wiener itself tasted like the cheapest option available, as if it had been sitting in hot water all day, and it turned to mush when I bit into it. The bun didn’t help either—it was nearly soggy from the chili (which there wasn’t much of to begin with). Using a higher-quality wiener and bun, and packaging it in a way that prevents sogginess, would make a huge difference. As it stands, it’s far too expensive for the quality. For a place that’s supposed to be known for their hotdogs, this was extremely disappointing.

One of the best chili dogs in West Virginia! Small town with small town charm and hospitality. You can get the chili dog, fries, custard and then get a container to take home the chili! This place is a must stop if you are near Webster Springs.

Best hot dogs ever! I have grown up on this sauce but never knew it was made so close to home. I will definitely be back for another visit.

One of the few places to eat in Webster Springs. Very friendly staff and centrally located in this small town. Not very vegetarian friendly but there are a couple of options including pizza bread and iceberg lettuce salad. They are know for their hot dog chili sauce.

Title: Loyal customer here—kudos to the young pro, but please don’t handcuff him

I’ve been a Webster Springs Custard Stand regular since the hairpin-curve days outside town, long before the Shark Tank spotlight. Visit was Labor Day weekend, Sunday 8/31/25, ~11:45 a.m. Hot dog hit the spot. I came back (no line) for the soft-serve cone I’d planned to have after lunch. Looked like an early pull from the machine: not quite cold, a bit lumpy and slumped, and short of the usual height.

The young employee who fixed my cone was terrific—he apologized, offered me a cup in case it toppled, and (trying to make it right) politely asked the cashier/manager if he could add a little more to make up for the short fill. The cashier/manager didn’t say a word—just a silent finger-wag “no.” He deferred, and I walked away with a sub-par cone and the sense that good customer service had just been vetoed.

Credit where it’s due: that young team member showed initiative, pride in work, and real customer care. Opportunity for management: empower your crew to fix small misses on the spot—especially with early soft-serve pulls—so the experience matches the reputation you’ve built. I’ve been happy here for years and will be back; a little coaching at the register would turn moments like this into wins.

—A loyal customer

Thick and creamy soft serve ice cream. They have many flavors to choose from. I went with a traditional twist of vanilla and chocolate. It was just the thing to end our Sunday drive into the mountains. My husband opted for a special flavor and got peanut butter ice cream. Although it wasn’t impressive to look at, it was made with real peanut butter it was delicious!
