Absolutely a must stop if you’re looking for a local coffee shop right off the freeway instead of that corporate chain store! Definitely worth the stop! Coffee drinks are great. They have an amazing healthy menu of sandwiches, wraps, salads and soup. Also have great options for bulk beans as well as local items, including real vanilla in glass bottle! I had the chicken bacon ranch wrap. It was grilled, very warm and had an incredibly great flavor mixture to it with just the right amount of ranch! Never disappointed when I stopped here!

Just a delightful spot to stop for lunch off 35.
The staff was helpful and friendly. You order at the counter, and they give you a pager if you want to wait for your order at a table. Very reasonable prices for the size of portions you get.
Food is good, the french fries are huge and well seasoned while the ketchup packets are novel as they’re not one of the major brands so it was a unique flavor experience.
The atmosphere is where it really shines. There’s indoor seating as well as patios on 2 sides. I was there in early September, and the ‘back’ patio seating is situated under eaves absolutely covered in what seemed like wild grape vines. It cut any afternoon heat, provided lovely shade, and cut down on any highway noise while looking lovely and still letting breeze through.

Cute spot for those traveling on I-35. The cafe boasts engaging decor with fun facts on the table, as well as questions to play ‘I spy’. I indulged in an Italian Panini, while my wife opted for a BLT. Both dishes were nothing short of excellent. We complemented our meals with Italian sodas, and couldn’t resist grabbing a chocolate chip cookie to go. Highly recommended!

you might consider passing by Hinkley, skipping the McDonalds at Moose Lake and stopping at the Chickadee for a coffee, treat, or sandwich. It’s a happy little deli and coffee oasis in the midst of the great coffee desert along Hwy35. Really pleasant local deli with a good interior and outside deck. Huge parking lot.

Stopped by for a quick lunch. Ordered their turkey sandwich with their well made french fries. It was delicious . Likely coming back when driving on i36 from Duluth.
Follow up – went back today. Still good food; service a bit cold.
Likely will do another follow up later this summer to check for consistency- an important criterion for us all.

My family has been coming here for years, a treat on the way up to Duluth! However, the last time we visited the service was less than acceptable. The older woman who works the register was incredibly rude, my mom and I have never been treated like we were so stupid. We will not be returning again, we will miss the tasty food and good coffee but we will bring our business elsewhere. Somewhere where we aren’t burdening them by ordering their food!

We arrived at 12:05, the restaurant was not busy. We ordered 2 soups of the day which was beef stew and a small Caesar salad. Our order took almost 25 mins
The potatoes were rock hard in the stew and the Caedar salad was swimming in dressing . We will think twice about exiting off of I35 to eat there. P.s. silverware was plastic and soup came in a paper cup.

Absolutely worth pulling off the highway! What a gem, my family came in for a light lunch and everything including the PB&j was delicious. The atmosphere was that of a cozy cabin and the staff were very polite and greeted you like old friends. I will be making this a must on future trips “up north!”
