Fantastic brekkie/brunch spot! We visited late morning on a Thursday, not a busy time but still a lovely, cosy atmosphere. Very friendly and accommodating staff.
Had eggs Florentine and sausage & eggs on toast – delicious! Great quality, fresh ingredients! They also do a tasty chai latte. Highly recommend this place!

Just amazing place. I was just reading about the reviews about the place but didn’t expect what it was when we went in. The entrance is small but place was big inside and a whole lot of seats. I love the decor and feel inside, just loved eating and hanging around inside.
They have a kid’s menu and they loved the food they ordered. We took the steak promo and was surprised that the tomahawk tasted that well, it was just tender and tasty and well made. Loved the chips that came with it, crunchy and tasty. My daughter had the fudge and it was really good. Service was good and quick, they were really friendly. Would be going back for sure

My husband and I were in Shrewsbury for the weekend and we found this place purely by accident and what a hidden gem it is! Our waiter was called John and he really was fantastic! Nothing was to much for him. The food was absolutely brilliant and it had such a great atmosphere. If you are ever in Shrewsbury please look this place up as you will not be disappointed. I cannot recommend this place enough!!!! 10/10

I am extremely disappointed by my experience here today.
I found a small dead bug (centipede/millipede-like) in my drink, which I had already mostly consumed. I immediately showed it to others at my table and they all agreed it was a bug. I calmly brought this to the staffs attention, fully expecting it to be dealt with professionally. I’m a very understanding person and a regular customer so would have been happy with I’m sorry I’ll fix it by xyz!
Instead, the owner Carol started saying it was other things and then asked to take the bugs away. We question why she couldn’t confirm what it was there and then and she insisted her eyesight site was bad. She then returned having completely crushed it with her finger, making it unrecognisable, and insisted it was “definitely not a bug” and claimed it was a seed she said she needed to crush it to see what it was. At that point, it was impossible to identify because it had been deliberately squashed. When I asked why she did that and if she could please bring a seed that looked like what was in my drink, she became defensive, implied I was wrong, and told me I could leave if I wanted to. I was mortified and also furious as I had never felt so gaslit and it then started to become a big scene that it really did not need to be. I just wish I took a photo!!!! It was only at this point did she say or I will take the coffee off the bill!
I was shocked by how this was handled. Destroying the evidence, denying what multiple people had seen, and making a customer feel disbelieved and dismissed is completely unacceptable. Even if it had not been a bug, which it was, a foreign object in a drink should be taken seriously and dealt with transparently and professionally.
To make matters worse, the situation was discussed behind the counter with staff, who appeared to laugh about it, and then with other customers seated nearby. This was deeply unprofessional and unnecessary. like seriously wtf!!!
The way this situation was handled left me feeling extremely upset and uncomfortable and feeling gaslit or like I was being made out to be stupid. I was shaking when I left! Sadly, I won’t be returning to was once one of my favourite cafes.

Love the food and atmosphere. Noticed that no one left any food on their plate. People talked and weren’t using their phones. The owner and staff we helpful and polite. Big smiles all round even when rushed off their feet with Christmas parties. Made most welcome. From the ‘Liverpool girls’. We will be back .

What an excellent restaurant!
Came for an evening meal with friends and we were blown away by the quality of the food. The service and atmosphere was also excellent and we found the portions to be just right and the pricing fair.
I would highly recommend Number Four and if we’re back in the area we’d definitely come back to try more on the menu.

First visit here today and what a delight. The restaurant is much larger than I realised and has a fantastic vibe, and great atmosphere. The veggie breakfast was lovely, nice to see no vegan sausages but a well thought out breakfast. My husband had the big boy breakfast and throughly enjoyed it, the ingredients are of great quality. Service fab also and lovely range of drinks. Would highly recommend and we will be back!

Another excellent evening out at Number 4 last Friday evening. Sorry for lack of photos but we were too busy enjoying every mouthful to get our phones out. We went for the 3 courses: prawn special starter with crispy noodles (wow), pork belly (‘best ever’) and fish main, and managed to squeeze in delicious desserts too. Great bottle of wine & excellent service. We’ve visited many times before and will keep coming back!
