The interior is beautifully decorated and is sectioned off (not open layout), which I like. There’s various size tables, and all covered with white table cloths
The menu has a variety of delicious entrees, app, desserts, and other delicacies. Again, this is a steakhouse, so, if you’re a fan of steak you should definitely give them a shot. There’s also a fully stocked bar. There is delicious complimentary bread and butter
Now, we came on a Friday for lunch, and one thing you need to know about lunch at Perry’s is that everyone is pretty much getting the same thing. The lunch pork chop. This isn’t because the lunch menu only has one item, it has many, but the pork chop is half of the normal dinner size, and it’s difficult to finish even the big portion it’s so big
Some tips:
This is a great spot to celebrate any occasion, or for a date night, or for any occasion really
Get the lunch pork chop! Upgrade your mash potatoes to loaded. And if you’re feeling it get some of their delicious tableside desserts
Cheers!!
The food was outstanding. I got the French Onion Soup for my appetizer, the Certified Upper Choice Ribeye for my main course and then as a group we got a selection of sides. The Lobster Mac & Cheese, the Au Gratin Potatoes and the Sweet Sriracha Brussel Sprouts. Every single one of them spectacular.
The atmosphere was wonderful. Candle lit tables, beautiful glassware, tall ceilings. I felt like I was in a movie.
Finally, the absolute best thing about this experience was our waiter, David. He was so kind, attentive and effortlessly funny.
My friend (Who is a bakery manager) brought a cake she made for my friend’s birthday. He brought out plates, a knife and even took the time to sing Happy Birthday with us. When we were leaving (Already out the door) he came outside, shook all of our hands and thanked us again for coming. The definition of above and beyond service.
For our next special occasion, we will definitely be going to Perry’s and asking for David.
Of course we pointed this issue out as the difference almost doubled our food bill and he said “I just wanted you to have the full dining experience.” ♀️
We asked for the manager but our server replied that he would fix it. We would have talked to the manager on our way out, as our experience was bad all around, but fortunately Andy, the manager, came by to work out the check. He then explained to us how the lunch menu works. We explained that our waiter had insisted soup/salad and dessert were included multiple times and that we tried to explain this to him earlier. Andy corrected the charge. Dessert arrived.
The entire experience with our waiter was odd. He clearly has a dark, wry humor but he made some oddly pointed comments – “… is that the face you want” for photos and “… it shouldn’t be that hard” when we didn’t respond quickly enough on a question he asked. We asked twice for a replacement napkin and he asked if paper would be better, but than never brought the napkin and we got up and got one ourselves. When asked if he could take a photo when he was not too busy he replied under breath that he was too busy but then took the phone/camera out of the hands of the hostess when we finally asked someone else for photos. (It was 4:30 on a Friday afternoon.) He never asked if we wanted coffees, or if others wanted dessert. This is just a few quips- there was more.
We were 5 people with three lunch specials, two regular items and 2 expensive cocktails each. We are in our mid-60s and maybe he was confusing the Friday Prime Rib Lunch with the Senior Lunch? We were polite, friendly, ordered in a timely manner and are nice people. We were really surprised by all of this. We tipped, to not hurt the rest of the team, but certainly not the 25% would have likely tipped.
Long story short- make sure you understand the lunch specials as well as the other specials for seniors and military, in case your server doesn’t. Check your bill.
We enjoyed the food and drinks and have this lunch special up in the Domain location every month. I think the issue was our server and not Perry’s and I assume he will get the training he needs.
I am Happy to talk with Perrys on this.
Great environment, great service.
Probably we will not come to Austin again, but for fine dining restaurant it is recommended.
The waitress rushed us all evening. She took 2 of our salad orders and two of our friends had to request that she take their salad orders as well, she did not even ask the other two of our party if they wanted salads which they did and had to call her back. At that time we asked for bread which usually comes out first but she never brought it until after we had our steaks. When I ordered 2 of the Perry’s Signature Wedge salads I explained to her that we wanted the true “Wedge” NOT the slice of lettuce that Perry’s decided a few years ago was a wise 100 plus year tradition change! I also let her know that if she had any questions that she could ask the Manager, David and he could take care of that for us. Of course, she obviously did not take the time to do so. We asked for the Manager but of course she did NOT get him. We always have the sides come out first so to enjoy our dinner in courses so to speak but, yet again our wishes were disregarded. The sides and steaks all came out together and the table had not even been cleared of the salad plates. Oh, and my last 2 friend’s salads came out finally after we other 4 finished ours!
The steaks were all below Luke warm in temperature so we barely are any of them. My Bone In Cowboy medium and my friends Bacon Wrapped Filet you can see pictured. We NEVER leave steak on our plates! By dessert most were over the expience and ready to go to DQ for it. We were non discreetly informed that our “birthday dessert” was limited to the certain options above a certain line even though the price difference was ONLY $1 . This never has been a concern in the past either. Leaving the restaurant we were sent out with plastic togo containers in hand with no bags which has always been a courtesy by the staff. We spent less than an hour and half seated and felt as if we had been pushed out the door by the waitress.
Days later my friend messaged me that his cousin in Houston has had the same problems and even included an article where many people have complained about much of the same.
