In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Always a good choice .. Black Bear Diner is located in the middle of Jordan Landing.
We were seated right away on a Sunday morning although the restaurant quite busy.
Our server came within five minutes of us being seated and immediately brought drinks. Our order was taken promptly and the was made up fresh and served hot.
Real bacon and thick sausage .. eggs cooked as ordered. Thick, giant hotcakes full of flavor.
Orange juice is fresh squeezed.
Service was absolutely excellent.

Had a wonderful meal at Black Bear! The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the staff were super friendly and attentive from the moment we walked in. The food came out quickly, everything was fresh, hot, and really delicious. Portions were generous, prices were fair, and the whole experience felt relaxed and enjoyable.
Definitely a place I’d come back to — highly recommend if you’re looking for good food and great service!

We enjoyed our trip here. I was hungry for breakfast , but my wife wanted a cheeseburger! Our meals were very good , service was good too . A very busy place, so that’s always a good sign!!

We waited 45 minutes to be seated. That amount of time is more reasonable considering we had a slightly larger group but they told us a much shorter time than we actually ended up waiting.
Once we finally sat they took another 15 minutes or so to take our orders.
The food tasted fine and was reasonably priced for the amount of food.
My water was never refilled the whole time we were there.
The staff seemed to have a hard time speaking English. I couldn’t understand their English and they didn’t seem to fully understand our English.

This is my favor Black Bear location Pot Roast Melt is delicious and I’m always a sucker for some good grits. Biscuits are massive!
A few months later – we came as a group of 7 this time and it took 30 MINUTES for our orders to even get taken. Food was good and all but my goodness that took forever.

Interesting place. Nice theme. Food was good but the pot roast was dry. It said it came with mushrooms but I had none. Overall nice place. Corn muffin was also good

The west jordan location has a really good deal on Wednesday nights…buy an adult meal, get a kids meal free… this makes it very economical for people to eat out… pancakes are delicious as usual but the bacon this last time wasn’t crispy at all but soggy…at any rate…servers are really nice and made sure we had eno8gh syrup and water…

This is such a great spot. I’ve always ordered breakfasr online and usually just had it delivered. Tonight I went in by myself to get dinner. I was greeted immediately by a very nice woman at the counter (didn’t catch her name) and my server Aaliyah was quick, professional, and attentive. I order the Bigfoot chicken fried steak with vegetables and broccoli cheddar soup. Considering everything nowadays is skyrocketing in price and lowering portions this was a nice change of pace. The food was delicious and came out quickly. I ordered the banana cream pie to go and holy crap was it good. I work right next to this place and wish I would have come in sooner. You guys have a customer for life.

Service was great! Eggs Benedict was okay but not super. Chicken fried steak was good. Pancakes were too sweet for our liking. Thick bacon is not thick. Just saying. Fruit bowl was yummy.

This was my first visit to Black Bear Diner at this location, and unfortunately, it will likely be my last. The food was severely overcooked — burned and extremely dry. There was no quality control evident in what was served. For a restaurant that promotes hearty, home-style meals, this was far below acceptable standards.
To make matters worse, there was a strong sewage odor coming from the restroom area that noticeably carried into the dining space. This is not a minor inconvenience — it reflects poorly on overall maintenance and cleanliness.
The only positive part of the experience was the young lady assisting us. She was polite, attentive, and professional. She deserved a better environment to represent.
Overall, this visit was disappointing from both a food quality and facility standpoint. I sincerely hope management takes these issues seriously, as no guest should leave with this impression.
