A Hidden Fusion Gem in Bloomfield – Don’t Believe the Negativity!
As a food critic, I’m glad I followed my instincts instead of the online rumors for this one. My partner and I were sightseeing nearby and decided to double back to check out Aki Asian House after walking past it, and I’m so glad we did!
The Atmosphere & Service:
From the moment you walk through the entrance, the vibe is unique and welcoming. The interior is well-kept, and the service was top-tier. Our servers were incredibly kind and attentive, making the experience feel personal and seamless.
The Food & Value:
I was surprised to see some negative feedback online because our meal was flawless.
Freshness: Everything served was noticeably fresh. You can tell they take pride in their ingredients.
Unique Flavors: The “Asian Fusion” label is well-deserved here. The flavors are distinct and creative, not your typical cookie-cutter menu.
Price Point: For the quality of food and the overall experience, the price is more than worth it. You definitely get great value for your money here.
Verdict:
Aki Asian House is a unique spot with a lot of heart. If you’re in Bloomfield and looking for fresh fusion with great service, ignore the noise and give this place a try. We’ll definitely be returning!
The sushi rolls are really good as well and they are quite large. I got 3 different specialty rolls and could not finish. The vegetable spring rolls were really good as well, and everything came very nicely packaged for delivery.
Update 2025: still fantastic. Love this place!
Also the waitress was more than happy to help me put the cake in the fridge, take it out with candles prepared and the custom topper I bought. In the rush of getting the cake and everything I had forgot candles and lighter, thankfully Aki had some on hand. You’re a lifesaver!
The only cons I would have is that the restaurant was a bit cold- our table was right next to the door so it would be expected. And the bubble tea was more of a slush with a lot of tiny crushed ice, bubbles were a bit hard. But for $4 and convenience, not bad. All in all it was a lovely dining experience. Very glad we found this place, would come here again if I’m in the area.
Tips for parking! Street parking was hard to find and we arrived around 5pm on a Friday, Glenwood Garage is just around the corner next to the Buy-Rite Wine & Liquor store. It’s a 2 min walk from the restaurant. It was only $1 a hr (unheard of?? Cheapest parking I’ve ever seen lol) and for 2 hrs max. But additional is $1 per hr I believe? Not sure tbh. We stayed just slightly over and it only charged me $2. Lots of parking spots available.
(For those who are curious the cake is “Rouge Noir” from Delice Macarons in Cranford. Dark chocolate & raspberry. Custom topper is from GoldenTopper on Etsy. So good!)
