Love a Mexican restaurant. They had a Costa Rican/Mexican style which I’ve never had but they fulfilled it. I got the Texano burrito which was good. I do wish the chips & salsa were better. Salsa had more of an Italian marinara sauce taste. But overall food was good. Our was amazing and enjoy the space. I also want this restaurant to stay. Love the location and want it to stay. There is so much potential. And hope they keep shooting for the stars ⭐️

The food was pretty good. I had the chicken burrito grande and a chicken taco salad. Chicken was a tad dry, not that big of a deal. The taco salad was a bit soupy. The drinks were bad. Horchataand pineapple punch was a pass, do not recommend. Overall I’ll go back and try something else.

I’ve watch many places come and go at this location and I really hope they stay a long time. Tacos and quesabirrias are on point. My family of 7 enjoyed it a lot. Taco Tuesday is our favorite day of the week and they did not disappoint

If you want hefty helpings of well-prepared Mexican food at very reasonable prices, this little place is a big option. Forget the Mexican mass-production places. Our server was attentive, quick and friendly. Everything from the guac to the entrees was fresh and delicious. I wish I could post pics here. They don’t have an ABC license yet, but it is coming.

Don’t miss out on El Paisano, this is a hidden gem right in a lot of people’s back yard. Food was delicious, the service was fantastic, and a very nice atmosphere. Will definitely come back!!

I was in Richmond this weekend for business and had two unforgettable highlights: visiting the beautiful Maymont…and discovering El Paisano Mexican Grill. On my way out of Maymont, I asked a young man where to find the best Mexican food in town. Without hesitation he said, “¡Manos abajo! You have to try El Paisano Mexican Grill. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s auténtico and will not disappoint.”
So we drove the 10 miles, and OMG, he was right!
I started with the taquitos he recommended. ¡Deliciosos! Crispy, golden, and stuffed with juicy shredded beef. Nothing like the bland, dry taquitos you often get elsewhere. I could have eaten a dozen, easy. The fresh guacamole alongside was pura perfección.
But the dish that truly touched my corazón was the Caldo de Res. My abuela used to make it for me on cold nights, and one spoonful at El Paisano literally brought tears to my eyes. Rich, flavorful broth, tender beef, served with arroz, limón, cebolla, and cilantro, it was just like home. I practically licked the bowl clean, and the portion was so generous I wasn’t even hungry the next day.
Several of my employees joined me, and they were equally blown away. From the quesadilla de bistec to the tacos de birria, everything was spot on. You could taste the tradition and passion in every bite.
One detail that really stood out: the owner personally checked each plate before it left the kitchen. That’s something you expect in a fine dining restaurant, but here it came from a place of genuine pride and cariño for the food and his guests.
If I could give 100 stars, I would. Since I can’t, 5 will have to do. And let me say this: I live over 2,600 miles away, a 5½-hour flight each way, but I will absolutely be back. That’s how memorable and auténtico this place is.

We had a fantastic experience this week!! The food was delicious and the service was excellent!! We especially enjoyed how sweet and helpful our servers were. Friendly and attentive environment. We will definitely be back very soon! Highly recommend visiting this new establishment. The complimentary ice cream was also a plus!! Great place to take your family.

One of the highlights of our visit was the special Costa Rican coffee prepared by the owner himself, who is originally from Costa Rica. It instantly reminded us of our trips there—rich, smooth, and delicious.

Food and Service is wonderful. Have had, Chori Pollo, Couple different Burritos,and the Chips and Salsa is good as well as queso. Can’t wait for mixed drinks! 🙂
