I’ve eaten here often, en route to theatre or TIFF. The staff are lovely! Tonight’s food however .. meh! The loaded nachos were far from loaded – nearly NO toppings, no sauce, very little cheese, dry and disappointing. The calamari was tasty, slightly overcooked. The pepperoni pizza was over the top too salty , almost inedible- likely my fault for choosing pepperoni. And I had Open Table reservations which I confirmed on arrival .. when I got home I got an email from Open Table giving me kaka for no show! and they were serious! I wrote back immediately saying for sure I was there!! I like this place a lot – tonight however the food was hugely disappointing! Hoping it will get better!

Walked in for dinner before going to see & Juliet at the Royal Alexandra Theatre. Our Server was Maddie who was friendly, efficient and fun. I decided on the Three-Course Dinner option and selected: the Kale Caesar Salad, Butter Chickpeas & Squash Curry and S’mores Brownie. Everything was delicious with sizable portions. And, I wasn’t the only one as everyone at the table enjoyed their meals. The Manager even came over to check on us a couple of times to make sure we were enjoying everything.
I’ll definitely be recommending Canteen and look forward to coming back soon!

Amazing spot with great food! Very reasonable prices both drinks and food.
Lively atmosphere, bright and open but also trendy and fun. Head chef is doing amazing things there! Staff were all lovely and multiple people checked in on us.

Really love their commitment and tailoring food to allergic people. I myself took the wrap and it was very well balanced. The only downside is right in the middle of the traffic, making it somewhat annoying to get in there.
Food is also very affordable

The staff is friendly and accommodating with my selective tastes! Thank you! Brunch menu has a great selection from vegan/vegetarian, to yogurts and steak! They have what you’re looking for! Perfect place for any pre event gathering!

What’s truly impressive about O&B Canteen is the value for money it offers. Located on King Street in the Entertainment District, the restaurant’s menu prices are more than reasonable, especially given their generous portion sizes. If you ever find yourself in Toronto’s Entertainment District and looking for a place to eat, O&B Canteen would be your best choice. Don’t be swayed by all the overpriced eating options in the area! O&B Canteen offers great food, generous portions, and excellent service at a price that won’t make you cringe.

Very underwhelmed. Best thing about it was the lovely and honest server. Brunch was $130 with only 1 drink between us. Partner has water. Curry dish had zero flavour, eggs beni were good but nothing special. It’s decent, but expected more from an O&B resturant.

Great spot in the heart of Toronto. I loved the tuna poke bowl and the espresso martini was delish! The chicken curry dish was also great

I had a wonderful experience at Canteen. The moment I walked in, the team made me feel genuinely welcomed. Everyone was friendly and you could tell they cared about creating a great experience.
The food was excellent as well. Everything was fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and full of flavour. It’s comfort food elevated in a way that feels natural rather than fussy.
Overall, Canteen has a great mix of hospitality and consistently delicious food. Highly recommend!

This is a decent casual place to grab a bite before a show at the Princess of Wales: the menu even has a prix fixe menu so you can get to your show ontime…that said, we almost didn’t make it to our show on time.Despite multiple requests, our 2 part prix fixe of entry plus dessert for some reason took 20 minutes to get the dessert. We had to ask for it to be packed up to go which of course made the panna cotta a wet soggy mess. While it’s not really their fault that the panna cotta “melted”, it is their fault that they took so long to bring us the dessert that we didn’t have time to eat it before the show. I understand they were busy but since we had ordered from the prix fixe and had asked several times about the dessert, I was close to the boiling point. In addition, when we arrived, the table outside that we were sat at had a very unpleasant surprise on the ground behind one of our seats- a doggie poop bag that had been used and apparently dropped just behind the chair. They were kind enough to handle it and someone wore gloves to dispose of it but it was pretty gross and should not have been missed when the table had been cleared for guests. Again, while not their fault that previous customers brought fecal matter into a restaurant, it was really unappetizing. We ended up moving tables so that we could accommodate friends that were able to get into town earlier than expected. When they asked if the food they wanted to order would be ready in time for the show at 7 pm at the theatre across the street, I believe it’s universally understood that it takes a good 15 minutes to eat fish and chips, longer if it’s fresh out of the fryer; luckily our guests shared the meal so that they could gobble it down faster as they didn’t have 15 minutes for one of them to eat. We were actually quite concerned that there might be upset stomachs from having to eat so quickly. Again, they could have estimated better. The food was delicious but we had to deduct stars for the timing being off. We did appreciate the server asking about everyone’s allergies but cannot opine on whether the food would have catered to those with such allergies.
