This place is a hidden gem! The service and food were great and the atmosphere is nice. Perfect place to watch the sunset. The steaks & desserts were delicious, the “grilled cheese” brisket sandwich was a hard pass though.

Everything about this place is amazing. The ribs are soft and crispy with well flavored sauce. The steak, yum.. there’s detail in the combination of ingredients. Above all, the friendliness of the environment is impeccable. Shoutout to Andrew!

Updated 6/25/23:

We decided to go back this morning to the Tavern at Trails End for brunch. We had a much better experience than last time we were here. Everything was great.

A group of 3 of us tried out The Tavern at Trails End today for brunch. We had looked online and the menu looked amazing. This is in the location of the old Hurricane Dollies. We tried calling to ask about reservations, knowing they would probably be busy for Mother’s Day, but they never answered, so we went anyway around 11:30 AM. When we got there, we were told that the earliest they could get us in was 1:30. We noticed they had a special brunch buffet that looked good so we decided to come back for our reservation 2 hours later. When we arrived, we were seated fairly quickly and our waitress was very quick and friendly. The 3 of us went through the buffet line and got a sampling of different things. When we started eating we were really disappointed with the food. Much of it wasn’t warm, but room temperature or cold. The food flavor was OK at best (possibly related to food temperature and possibly sitting out too long). There was an egg quiche dish that was very unpleasant. The tastiest item was the country fried chicken, but it wasn’t enjoyable not being warm. Not being happy with the food, we couldn’t even finish the one plate we each had. We were very disappointed when we got our bill to find out the buffet was about $39/person. I would have to say that our experience was not worth the price.

All that being said, I think this restaurant has a lot of potential. The building setup and design is awesome. The facility itself is very architecturally interesting as it is an old log cabin. The regular menu looks awesome with a lot of unique ingredients. We will have to give it another try sometime for dinner and hopefully have a better experience.

YOU MUST COME HERE!

The food is absolutely AMAZING!
The wonton nachos were perfect! Brisket was moist and paired so well with jalapeños!

The soup, wonderful choice! I could tell in the taste how fresh and from “scratch” that was made….10000% LOVE

THE WAGYU burger (didn’t expect it to be a double patty) was delicious!!! And don’t get me started on the FRIES! The crunch was insane and mouth watering

Their grilled salmon was a state winner twice in a row, you can’t miss out! And their Sunday chicken is also a nice thing to try!

My favorite spot in all of Missouri!

Not to mention, the service was BEYOND amazing ! The atmosphere was calm and friendly.
I had a great time dining here.

I drove a mustang on the dirt path to this restaurant (just incase you’re unfamiliar with the area like me haha)

A warm, friendly, DELICIOUS tavern, literally at the end of a trail. Exceptional service and beyond tasty food! There were no tables open, so we sat at the bar for our meal (which I think I would prefer to do again next time, everyone was so friendly and told us about the food and things to do in the area).
I got the Sunday chicken and my brother got the salmon. Both were fantastic. The chef stopped by the bar and greeted us before we left. When our gps told us to take a left off the main road down a dark gravel path, my brother and I looked at each other confused and nearly pivoted to another restaurant, thinking the address was off. Thank god we forged ahead and found this gem, literally at trails end. I can’t wait to return.

Out of my 1.6K reviews and almost 4M views…I hope EVERYONE finds The Tavern at Trails End near lake of the Ozarks! This was an outstanding experience from the quaint setting to the fantastic cuisine. Chef (John) and hostess (Sherri) are absolutely the best! It is rare that the chef comes out, explains the menu and the inspiration behind his creations and then checks in after the meal! Phenomenal, hands down 5 STARS. Waitress, Bethany was also amazing and so sweet to us. This was the best anniversary experience we have had to date in our 24 years 🙂 Well done, ALL! Even though the pics are good….they don’t compare to the flavor extravaganza you will experience here.

Perfect service and delicious food. We had the Korean sticky ribs, bread service, Sunday chicken, and the ribeye. The duck fat gravy on the Sunday chicken is to die for and the ribeye was cooked to perfection. The only thing I was not a fan of is, the road is hard to find since the street sign is not reflective and it’s down a gravel road. You will wonder if you took a wrong turn but keep going and you’ll find this quaint little Tavern.

Amazing food, and a nice atmosphere. We had a wine flight that was wonderful! All the food was tasty, and the salmon on my eggs benedict was cooked perfectly. The building itself is beautiful, although rustic. I heard it’s the oldest structure still standing at Lake of the Ozarks.

This is definitely the lake’s newest hidden gem.
The first time I came here (about three weeks ago) it was so busy we couldn’t get a table. I had heard so many rave reviews that I just had to come back though so I made a reservation (highly recommended but not necessarily required).
You may feel a little lost when you turn down the gravel road to get here, but keep driving.
Don’t be fooled by the appearance when you first pull up. The owners here put their money where it matters, into the food and service.
We brought some friends here tonight and I’ve never heard anyone rave about food like I did this evening. From the appetizers to the desserts, this place has definitely earned its reputation as the best restaurant at the lake.
The waitress did mention that the specials aren’t always available and highly recommended the ones this evening. Two of the four in our group tried them and were blown away. The other two ordered off the regular menu and were just as impressed. You won’t be disappointed here. I love the ambiance here, the service is on point, and the food is unlike anything else you can get at the lake.
I’m a seafoodie and I loved the seabass and the scallops. My husband is more of a beef lover and he had the special (flat iron).
Portions are on point. Price is on point, especially for the quality.
Give this place a try at least once, you won’t be disappointed.

It was our anniversary and we made reservations a few weeks before coming down. They greeted us at the door and instantly and sat us at our table. The table had a small sign saying Happy Anniversary. The waiter, Michael, greeted us and took our drink orders. The wine pours are generous. He was knowledgeable and informed us about the menu. We made our choices, the gnocchi and sticky ribs for appetizers, both were great with healthy portions. We shared a country harvest salad with honey basaltic dressing, fabulous. Our main courses were the salmon and the 8 ounce filet. The filet was cooked perfect and could have cut it with a butter knife. There was homemade butter on top and the au jus was unreal. The salmon had a special tarragon sauce that amped it up quite a bit, the rice and vegetables went perfectly with it. We ordered the crème brûlée for desert and to our surprise there were gold dusted blueberry’s on top. Out of this world! Michael added a brownie drizzled in chocolate with a crème sauce that was delicious. The overall experience was a perfect 10. We enjoyed ourselves and had a very memorable experience. I absolutely plan on coming back next time we visit!
