I have seen this place many times driving between Dallas and Houston. It sits just off 45 in Fairfield. Big red Sam’s sign has been around for ever. Old school buffet place with a little shop when you first walk in. I was there for breakfast and chose the buffet. They do have some menu items as well. It was standard breakfast buffet items such as eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, pancakes, muffins etc. There were no fruit options or waffles. All the food was hot, but it was just very average. The place is large so they must get some crowds for lunch/dinner buffet which I think they are more known for as well as pies. I have no need to try the breakfast buffet again. Perhaps the lunch/dinner one day.

Its the yummy cliché of taste good, feel good, get in my tummy comfort food. Chicken and dumplings, Salisbury steak, mashed potatoes, fried chicken, brisket, pies, bread. Not keto friendly. Clean bathrooms, private stalls, and a gift store. Easy access to highway. Perfect stop while traveling between dfw and houston.Houston. $64 for 2 beers a Margarida and 3 buffets

Soooo good! We almost did not stop here because we all said we weren’t quite hungry enough yet to eat the buffet but it didn’t want to miss a chance at this restaurant again. Every time we’re heading to Dallas our timing is just not right. After finally getting to stop and eat there my husband said from now on we’re planning our trip leave times around being able to stop at this restaurant. I don’t ever eat enough to justify paying for a buffet but this one was so worth it.
Couldn’t help eating some bread because it’s so good like my grandma used to make. You know how you go to some places and the ice cream is just like frozen milk, it has no taste or flavor? That was not the case here. It actually had a really good taste.
Wish we lived closer because it’s so worth it!!!
I think there were eight or nine stalls in the ladies bathroom which is great instead of having to wait in line because there’s only 1 or 2.

We’ve been going for many years. We’ve also enjoyed celebrating birthdays there. Sometimes with 5-10 people, other times with quite a few more.
The food is always good as is the service!
They also have a small, well stocked gift shop. I’ve always managed to find a little gift for someone/or me there!
If you’ve never been, go!
You’ll go back!
(There were so many around the buffet, I forgot later to get a pic of the food… next time!)

The service was excellent. The bread was amazing. The salad bar was excellent. The main buffet had a lot of thanksgiving dinner items on it which would be my only complaint. I would have preferred a more traditional buffet menu but it makes sense for them to offer that at this time of year. Brisket was good. I liked the chicken fried steak of the buffet. They also had homemade style pies (coconut, chocolate, pumpkin). They were excellent.

Completely in awe I’ve been coming here for a couple years now! Food is always the best quality and top notch on the taste! To top it off Peyton is one hell of a waitress and manager she’s very professional, sweet, and kind. The reason I will always keep coming back to this fantastic restaurant. Keep up the work 😉

On the way home down I45 to Groves, TX from our Durango, Co. Ski trip…googled a place to eat…pulled up several in Fairfield, Tx…Sam’s Restaurant looked like it might be a fun place…had an expansive menu and a buffet. After 10 days on the road through Texas, New Mexico and Colorado…this by far was the best overall for food quality, service and price…we will definitely make it a stop on all future trips…PS their homemade bread is yummy!

We drove 1hr 20min to this restaurant based on the comments of a friend that lives in Mexia. DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME!!!! The food was just okay. Nothing special to write home about. If you’re driving from Waco through Mexia to Franklin, don’t go all the way to Franklin to go to Sam’s. You will be sorely disappointed. Just stop at the Farm House in Mexia. Now that place has EXCELLENT FOOD!!! Sam’s is sorely lacking. It may have been good years ago and still running off its reputation. The food was just average. Although, I do have to say I did really like the fresh bread that was brought to the table and the salad bar. The salad bar had a decent amount of different selections, not all of it fresh, but enough to make a really nice fresh salad. I also like the potato soup. A very nice can selection. The rest was just average or below average. The greens were a disgusting can selection of greens. That should be removed from the buffet. Also the desserts were atrocious!!! Anyway, if you live in Franklin you may have no other choice. If you don’t live there, don’t drive there for this restaurant. Very disappointing.

For all you can eat this place was excellent. They had a full bar and a separate menu you could order from. I chose the Buffett 20 bucks and some peach cobbler at the end that was very good.
