I visited Press Coffee with a friend and ordered a “bacon avocado toast & egg.” When my food was called, I specifically asked the staff member at pickup, “Is this mine?” She confirmed that it was, so we left the store.
After walking around the mall and returning to the parking lot about 20 minutes later, I opened the box and realized it was not what I ordered. I walked all the way back to the store to let them know.
Only then did the staff member go to the back and say they had an extra order and were about to “toss it”, and said, “If you want, you can have it.” The way this was said made it feel like a favor, not a correction of their mistake.
I asked when the food was made. She said it was made when I ordered it, which was about 20 minutes earlier, and added again that they were getting ready to throw it away if I did not want it. As a paying customer, I do not understand why I should be expected to accept food that staff had already decided to discard.
I declined. She offered a refund, which is the bare minimum. What was most frustrating is that this entire situation was caused by their error, I was given the wrong item, I spent an extra 20 minutes walking back and forth, and when I asked if they could remake my order, I was told no because the kitchen was closed.
This is not just about a toast. It is about attitude, ownership, and basic customer service. A simple mistake could have been handled professionally with a remake and an apology. Instead, I was left feeling dismissed and undervalued as a customer.
I hope management reviews this situation and provides better training so future customers are treated with more respect and care.
The Southwest Burrito was absolutely phenomenal, best vegan chorizo I’ve ever had. Delicious and well worth the price!
