Very cool atmosphere inside. It is a self-serve type bar where you need to go up to the bar to get your drinks they did not come to your table. Also the food is in a similar fashion than what you need to go up order at a kiosk and then pick it up once they call your name. It is a bit hard to hear your name as there is very loud inside of the building. Otherwise it is very cool atmosphere things to look at every little spot. Very interesting decor and some of it is a little risque but that is all part of its charm. We had a hamburger and it was one of the best ones I’ve ever tasted but it was extremely messy. The bun fell apart almost immediately. I couldn’t comment on pricing because it was my bachelor party which we had quite a bit of fun.

I used to go here almost every Tuesday for burger madness when I lived in Boulder. Love the interior and burgers and fries are great. Met friends for lunch to reminisce. It wasn’t crowded like it used to be, but the food is still good and still love the atmosphere!

There has never, nor will there ever be a better, restaurant /bar than the Dark Horse. So many business problems were solved here during lunch. So many memories made after work hours. The staff have been more than friends. The food has always been amazing. Every single time. I will truly miss my favorite hang out place.

Really awesome place to come eat and hang out. The building itself could keep you busy forever, so much to look at! Food is as good as bar food can get, we got one of everything, I think. Service was good, food came quick. Bathrooms are tricky.

Met some friends at the Dark Horse and enjoyed a solid classic burger and fries—simple, satisfying, and what you’d want from a longtime local spot. Also had the red chili poppers which were good too. A little bittersweet knowing the place is expected to close in March. The Dark Horse has so much character and history, I hope the plan for the new spot works out and doesn’t lose its iconic vibes. Love how it’s so casual and self serve plus the old intercom shouting out nearly understandable names when orders were ready makes for a fun guessing game. Glad we got to enjoy one more good meal here at the original spot!

This place is not friendly. Typical Boulder attitude towards people. There was a huge line when entering the restaurant. Service was not the greatest. In addition, hearing a loud voice with no sense in the background was an additional annoyance. Trying to find parking was a pain as well. Overall, these factors probably had some reason for the place to be closed here soon.

Go for the wings! I like that they’re whole too and not shy on the sauce. Good prices. They DO NOT allow dogs on the patio so just keep that in mind. Kitchen cashier did not seem like they wanted to be there but I get it. Kitchen, on the other hand, seemed like they were having a great time and they served up some good food. Also had a burger; not the best in town but it was solid enough for me to eat the whole thing and for $9 I’m not going to complain. Still thinking about the wings though! Nice atmosphere of course.

Stopped in Dark Horse after hiking nearby since we heard such great things about this dive bar. We absolutely loved the vibe of the place – so cool and everything being self serve was nice too.
I got a cheeseburger and it was okay. Not bad, not great. The fries were pretty bland and the ranch wasn’t my favorite. My friends got the chicken wings which they absolutely loved.
It was very inexpensive which I appreciated. If I ever found myself visiting Boulder again, I’d consider trying something else!

Honestly, this place has some of the coolest decor you’ll find in any restaurant around. The food? It’s pretty great and the prices are super reasonable. Plus, the service is always friendly. It’s definitely one of my favorite spots, and it really deserves more attention!
