Just celebrated my birthday dinner here. The staff are a lovely bunch of people and came out with a small ice cream with candle in the end which was such a lovely surprise. The food is just *chef kiss*! We had the ’set for success’ set menu which was definitely enough for two people and such a variety of flavours, fabulous!! For us who like it quieter and space we sat in the perfect spot where we could enjoy the meal and each others company. I can’t wait to be back! Thank you ❤️

O. M. G. It’s been a while since a restaurant has wowed me with everything! It’s unassuming. And unexpected. And a random stop. It’s serendipitous because it means we discovered an abso-f***-ing-lutely scrumptious restaurant.

First – service. The head waiter I think (he was a bit stoic) announced guest arrivals to the kitchen. On point. The lady who took our order – loved her! Service with a smile. Gentle. Gave us warm hand towels like you would get in some airlines. I asked cheekily where are taking off to. She said without missing a beat…. To sushi paradise!! That tickled me and I said she needs to copyright that! And it was paradise!

The gentleman server explained the food (like a Michelin service. Isn’t that gorgeous? ) and then I asked about the stone decor. He explained the backstory of it and the origin of the restaurant. Loved it.

Atmosphere – we went there after the lunch rush and before dinner. So it was fairly quiet but the ambiance is calming.

The food/chefs – came in good time. Super big pot of tea. Sencha and Hojicha. Very refreshing. Kept warm the whole time- great earthenware. All the food we had… omg to die for!! I mean… we love sushi. We’ve been to some original ones, some chain ones, also in different places we visited. I thought we found the best one in London and one local to us. But… this… wow! We had Kani Korokke, Hiramasa Kama, Chirashi Deluxe, Temaki Setto and Salmon & Friends. Wow! Can’t say which is best as they’re all equally scrumptious!!

Hadn’t gone to Kingston for 2.5 years and only went there today because it has the nearest John Lewis to us. Didn’t plan to go again anytime soon. But now…. Because of Sticks ‘n’ Sushi… we might have to 🙂

Try it. You won’t regret it.

Fantastic Japanese food with a modern twist – delicate flavours and fresh ingredients, all beautifully presented. Atmosphere in the restaurant was nice and service was attentive, though we did go for lunch when it was a quieter time. Quite pricey but the dishes were of high quality. We had an enjoyable meal and will definitely return here or their other branches to try some new dishes.

Very noisy & hard to hear people in our group. Delicious food. Fun to eat & share. Good service. We had 2 sharing platters & some extras (party of 7). We over ordered slightly & it was packed in boxes for us to take home & enjoy the next day. Clean toilets too.

I visited this sushi bar around yesterday 6:00 PM and the restaurant was completely empty (as shown in the photo). Instead of being welcomed, I was met by a very rude receptionist (a lady, I believe from Africa). She did not greet me at all and immediately told me to leave my umbrella away.

I explained politely that the umbrella is very expensive and in my past experiences, items left aside have gone missing, so I preferred to keep it with me. This made her angry and her attitude became even worse.

She then asked if I had a booking and said that if I wanted to eat, I could only sit for 30 minutes — even though the restaurant was completely empty.

Her behavior was extremely rude and unprofessional. I am a Turkish restaurant owner myself in Kingston with 185 seats, and I fully understand how one staff member like this can seriously damage a business. I feel sorry for the restaurant and the management for hiring someone who is clearly not suitable for customer service. I hope they become aware of her behavior.

Unfortunately, this was not my first bad experience here. In the past, I clearly informed the staff that I am allergic to alcohol, yet the waitress still served me food containing alcohol, which is very concerning for customer safety.

Overall, I do NOT recommend this place at all — very poor customer service and staff who are not properly trained, both in manners and in food safety.

One of my favourite Japanese restaurants in my pocket. Sapporo always is my choice with yakiniku. Crème Brûlée with goma (black sesame) crumble was absolutely amazing.
