If you are traveling down Highway 17 toward Mount Pleasant and Charleston, be sure to stop in Georgetown and go to the gator Grill on front Street I promise you you will not be disappointed. The food is unparalleled. The atmosphere is great. The service is a 10. The views are magnificent. You can take in a little bit of history well without ever re-parking Georgetown and the gator Grill are gems.

My Mom and I were told we would have to sit outside because of my service animal. I told him that is illegal and he said the health department told them they didn’t have to allow service animals. We left the empty bar and spent a great evening and a lot of money at the Rooster’s bar instead.

I’m local so I decided to go here to grab some food. And it was 10/10. I ordered the club sandwich wrap and it did not disappoint. It came with fires and I ordered a side of fried okra. It was sooooooo good. I will be back.

Walked in and it was like someone immediately stopped the record player. There wasn’t one person at a “dining table”, everyone was sitting at the bar. Smelled like cigarette smoke inside, not sure if that was from air drifting in from outside. Did not look like anyone was there for food, didn’t smell any food.
We weren’t greeted by staff or anyone in the bar so very much a “you’re not the crowd” kind of vibe, so we walked out and left.

Local dive bar located on Georgetown’s scenic Harborwalk serving lunch, dinner and drinks. Simple bar interior with booths, bar and pool tables with nautical and beer sign motif. Outdoor back deck offers a panoramic view of the Georgetown Harbor. Surprisingly after finding our original dining destination closed, the adjacent restaurant had a hour and half wait was that this place was empty. Two locals claimed a couple barstools around the bar and the rest of the dining area was ours. Basic bar menu was appetizers, salads, baskets, burgers and sandwiches/wraps. First, we shared the Gator Bites with fried breaded Gator meat served with a spicy mango sauce. Interesting taste and texture that went nice with the side sauce that had a bit of heat. Our Shrimp Po Boy came with a choice of fried, grilled or blackened shrimp served with lettuce and tarter on a multigrain kaiser bun. Simple tater sauce flavor and chunky shrimp texture. A side of crispy fries a plus.

Delicious food with a nice waterfront view out back. They had a checkers table set up which was fun to play! Server was very friendly as well. Will be returning here!

They’re famous for their gator bites. My husband ordered them and loved it! It’s bar food. They did customize a salad for me since I have food allergies. I will visit again. It’s clean, and everyone was nice and took good care of us.

Walking in The Gator Grill at 12:40 pm today (Saturday) when parking was challenging to find on Front Street in Georgetown, I should have listened to my head asking, “Why are there only a handful of people here?”
It is a bar. Pool tables and all.
Although a bit warm, we sat outdoors which had a nice view of water and boats.
So I asked if they have Splenda for iced tea. Nope. Nothing but unsweetened or sweetened tea. No sweeteners at all. So I asked for water. Water (maybe it was the ice) tasted funky, so asked for Diet Coke. Okay. Yes, I worry about the climate especially when we are having record breaking temps. Why does anyone serve drinks in styrofoam these days?
And then onto ordering our lunches. The vegetarian bean burger looked good. Nope. Didn’t have any. As another in party said she was going to have fish sandwich, I then asked for that. Out of that, too. Asked if shrimp was fresh – it is not.
I did settle on grilled shrimp wrap which was “meh.” But at least did not taste fishy. Fries were made better by fresh ketchup. Another one in our party asked for shrimp po boy which was served on a round bun. He said it was very dry.
So, yes – I should have listened to that voice in my head asking why only a handful of people were there. So I will give myself two stars as well.
