Contemporary Mexican restaurant serving traditional flavors & margaritas in a casual setting.

My favorite Mexican restaurant growing up had warm (temperature) salsa and so does this place. They serve you with a mild red salsa and more spicy green salsa. Both are very good.
All entrees I’ve had have also been very good. The only reason I’m not giving it five stars is because of the service. The staff is actually very friendly but I’ve been here a few times now and the service has been very slow despite the lack of a crowd.
Overall I’d recommend you try this restaurant out.

House Margarita was very good. Was $10 but served in a shaker with ice, I got about 3.5 glasses out of single order. Wife ordered wild berry marg, loved it. Ultimate burrito with green chili was good food and at a good price. Overall good food with good service and a quiet atmosphere. I will be back.

Awesome food, the salsa especially puts this place at a notch above others. The rest is fairly par for the course Mexican food but done well. Whether or not they use frozen food I don’t know, but you’d be surprised how restaurants far more expensive than this one do(why I make my own food 90% of the time). None of the food I’ve had here has seemed off whether it was frozen or not. The service can be slow during fast times but usually it is pretty quiet and the one guy who pretty much runs the front end is nice. The portions are pretty large and there are coupons in local papers which make this place a good deal. Beats these new Mexican places charging 8 dollars for rice in a tortilla. The salsa and portions here put this place over Blue Bonnet for me. Also if you’re complaining about dark meat something is wrong with you as that is the preferred meat in basically the entire world, also used to be more expensive before chicken breast was pushed on people.

This restaurant was a very nice place with the fish tanks and mountain view. We had decent service and the salsa was delicious but the food was horrible – some of the worst Mexican I’ve had. It tasted like canned chicken and they didn’t even use Mexican cheese. We got the chicken quesadilla and enchiladas with rice and beans and both were not at all good, not even the beans. If you want a nice place to go to and aren’t picky with Mexican this place would be good but if you want authentic Mexican I’d definitely good elsewhere.

I have been to this restaurant several times in the past (all quite a long time ago). I fell in love with the location-distant mountain views, and the decor. But this time I had such a weird and unpleasant experience on many levels that I wrote a blog about it on The Leisure Report. I agree with the above reviewer. The food was so very, very bad. I did not eat it after a few bites and I love everything Mexican, lived and worked and traveled in Mexico extensively and love all types of Mexican cuisine. Frankly, the place was creepy.

HORRID!! Place was dead when we walked in, no host in site. Had to yell like a crazy person just to get someone to come up front still took 5 min. After seated my friend and I both ordered a strawberry frozen margarita but it was so strong we could smell it 10 ft away and it tasted like death in a cup. Then he gave us chips refried beans and 3 different salsas the beans were bland and the salsa didn’t taste right. Then we both order the loaded enchiladas with no lettuce. The man at the front end who seems to run the whole show, brought us our food but had tons of lettuce on it. He took it back and we waited for more it took 20 min to get the second round of food. The enchiladas were made with flour tortillas wich is not how they are supposed to be made they are supposed to be made with corn tortillas. All the food we had was bland and we could tell it wasn’t fresh or authentic. The best part of my meal was my coke. This place is disgusting and I don’t even know why they are still in business, if that’s what you call business. I do not recommend this place at all. We got our meals comped and left. NEVER AGAIN!!

Not sure how this place gets such good reviews. The food is not good at all and is surely canned, frozen or otherwise pre-packaged and then simply heated or served. I had the chimichanga and it was under cooked to the point that the tortilla was gooey in the middle. I did not worry about the meat inside being undercooked because it was obvious that it was precooked before they put it in a tortilla to fry it. Restaurant was empty at 5pm and we had to get up to find someone to help us. Very salty and we do not feel good after eating here.

We found this place simply by searching Google on our way from Denver to Colorado Springs. We were served a big basket of assorted tortilla chips with 4 dishes of salsa, one mild, one medium, a bean dip, and THE best Pico de Gallo I have ever had! We ordered the lunch specials, and there was a variety to chpose from. For $6.99 you get a plate full of hot, delicious food. The chicken and pork were absolutely delicious. You could tell they were slow cooked and the flavor was locked in. Nestor was our very polite server and he hooked us up with a container of Pico to take on our travels. So thankful we found this place. It’s a few miles off of the highway, but definitely worth the stop!

Yesterday my daughter and I went to this restaurant and it was just excellent. The food, margaritas, and service was exceptional. I want to personally thank Nester for being our server.
I have been here in Colorado for about 20 years now and this place is by far the best Mexican restaurant in all my 20 years.

We dined in for lunch at A Taste of Mexico, and found the restaurant to be dirty. The floors were not swept or vacuumed, and my cloth napkin was dirty. The chicken in my taco salad was low-quality, a lot of dark meat, the lettuce was nearly frozen, and the taco shell was cold. My husband had steak enchiladas, and the meat was so overcooked it was leathery. The servers were friendly, but the food was so poor and the place looked unkempt. We will not eat there again.
