I recently tried Happy Lamp for the first time, after hearing about it from friends. I can’t speak to the service or ambiance as it was a to-go order, but I can say that their website is easy to use and their delivery was efficient.
There are so many great dishes and sides to choose from. The food was delicious, and the portions were hearty. I would definitely order from them again.
Some tips:
If you are ordering as a group, order a variety of dishes and share (family style). Also, try one of the two “Birds Nest” chef’s specialties options. It’s essentially a stir fried meal that you place into a crispy noodle bowl that looks like a birds nest.

I’ve been a customer of Happy Lamp since I’ve moved into the neighborhood 20 years ago. It’s always been great food made by and served by even greater people. I usually get my food to go, but this past weekend my brother was in town for work, and I brought him here for dinner. He was more than impressed with the food, and we were able to eat and catch up with each other in a relaxed and family friendly environment. The experience was made even more special when one of the owners stopped by our table to address me by name and tell him how she remembers me coming in from the time I was little to now. Happy Lamp is a hidden Houston gem. Houston is a great city with great food, but if you want that and more, give Happy Lamp a try, you won’t regret it.

I have never been, but a neighborhood fan favorite, and I can see why. My husband actually liked the combo fried rice better than P. King. I got Happy Family, and egg rolls. Every thing was fresh, hot and tasty. We ate it next day and it held up well too. The shrimp they use are nice and fat. I would definitely order from here again.

I ordered the Mongolian beef. I was a little disappointed in the flavor & taste. The Mongolian beef was very tender, but there was something missing from either the beef & / or the sauce, but I couldn’t figure out what. Would I come here again ?
