I just had MaMa’s Soul Food, and it was, by far, the worst experience I’ve ever had there. The mac & cheese was cold and undercooked, and the beef tips were raw. It’s unfortunate because I usually go to Mama’s Soul Food three to four times a month. Honestly, the quality has been declining over the last couple of years. It’s the only soul food spot in the area, so I always hope it will be good, but today was the last straw. I won’t be eating at that location anymore, and I’ll switch to the other location unless the quality there is also declining. I was going to call and let them know, but there’s no point since I’ve done that before, and the issues continue. I don’t usually leave reviews, but I hope this gets the attention of management because they really need to improve. The poor quality is disheartening and disappointing, especially considering that one plate costs around $20. There’s no excuse for such poor quality—they need to do better.

I ordered the beef tips, macaroni and cheese, in candy yams which were all pretty good. I want to meatloaf but it didn’t look very good. The food is a little on the pricey side and if you use my credit card you will be charging additional fee. I wasn’t the rise of the feet until after I was charged and there is no sign showing that there is a fee for using your credit card. Also, they do offer a military discount.

I visited this establishment in search of “Soul Food,” but unfortunately, my expectations were not met. I ordered the catfish nuggets accompanied by candied yams and macaroni and cheese. Regrettably, the yams appeared to be from a can, lacking sweetness and having a watery consistency. The macaroni and cheese seemed to have a lack of seasoning and had not been baked sufficiently. Although the catfish nuggets were extremely small, they were well-seasoned. The cornbread was good. While the ambiance of the place was delightful, the food did not meet my standards. Perhaps I chose the wrong dishes and should explore other options on the menu. I’m from Alabama so maybe my expectations were too high.

Great soul food! Wide variety of options to choose from. Buffet style selection all ready to be served. Everything looks fenominal. I opted for the smothered liver and onions which came with rice and cornbread, along with two side of which I chose mac and cheese and garlic mash with gravy. Rice was loaded up with gravy too! Liver was a little saltier than expected but cooked perfectly. Smooth and tender on every bite. Max was good, macaroni a little soft but good flavor. Garlic mash was tasty with the gravy. Yellow rice was nice and fluffy, it went well with the gravy. Cornbread was good too, not too dry with great salty/sweet taste; nice ending to my meal. I also ended getting the peach cobbler as a dessert. Very happy I did, just the right amount of sweet with the toasty breading and cinnamon.

The cashier was really nice but the man fixing plates seemed a lil rude and abrasive not very helpful when ordering. Over all the food was delicious with good portions! I would definitely go back. I had smothered pork chops it came with 2 big pork chops! Mashed potatoes and Mac n cheese. Great price for the size plate $17.00

I absolutely am inlove with their Oxtail meal with rice and collard greens with a cornbread muffin. If you want quality food especially the Oxtail!! Best place in my opinion hands down.

I was visiting Tampa and came across this place man oh man was the food delicious!!!! The chicken was so crunchy but still so juicy inside the collard green had a great flavor the fried green tomatoes were still crunchy on the outside but perfect on the inside the workers were so friendly anything
