Was in town for the Galax Christmas festival and from the outside knew this was a place I had to explore. Combines two of my favorite things, coffee and looking at antiques. On the marketplace side it looks like an array of booths for vendors to put whatever they want. I found an old cookie press and a new pottery mug thrown by the twister sisters. Ok the coffee side there was plenty of comfy seating and options for food or drink. The ambiance was overly perfect as well as they had a local harpist playing because of the festival I think. I have never heard a harpist before and it was beautiful, glad this shop has given me the experience.

Definitely stop in if you can, I recommend the Flat Footin Ruben if you enjoy a food that takes you on a lazy river of flavor that ends with a harmonious taste, top two Rubens in the Commonwealth easily. The mac & cheese wont dissapoint. Nice quaint spot.

My husband and I ate here and the food was delicious. This restaurant is located inside an antique shop so there’s lots to see and enjoy. The menu selection has lots of nice sandwiches, soups, salads and the stuff coming out of the kitchen looked great. I had a three meat BBQ meal with Mac and cheese, my husband got chicken bacon ranch Philly.

I’ve been coming to this place for a long time and usually really enjoy their pastries.
This morning I bought my usual pastry, but unfortunately it was clearly not fresh. The photo I attached was taken about 10 minutes after purchase. The dough had already settled and no longer had that soft, fresh-baked appearance. By that time, it looked dry, wrinkled, and tasted stale — definitely not what you expect from morning baked goods.
I was disappointed because this is something I normally trust this cafe for. Freshness really matters, especially when you’re paying for bakery items.
I truly hope this was just an off day, but I wanted to share this so quality can stay consistent.

My wife and I had lunch and then shopped at the Briar Patch Marketplace! They had all kinds of things to look at in this unique market place . Small booths wind through out this Marketplace. You owe it to yourself to go and check them out ! We came back through to get an afternoon treat of ice cream . Also they have very nice , clean bathrooms !
Thanks Wayne

I ordered the “Virginia Main St” half sandwich and was lucky enough to happen to be there when they were making their twice baked potatoes from 12-2 PM. Everything was delicious! Great environment as well, there’s a cafe side if you like a little hustle and bustle and then there’s the antique side where they have some seating as well and it’s a little more quiet over there. They also have checkers built into some of the tables. Over all really cool environment, great food, and solid service.
Bonus points for having a guest WiFi network if you’re needing to get some work done while you enjoy your food!

Everything is so fresh and so delicious. The owners, Sheila and Martin, are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. The staff is amazing and the store is beyond cute with a marketplace to shop around in while you wait for your food. Can’t sit to come back. What a gem!

We visited for lunch on a Saturday. The cashier was very helpful with the menu and describing what they had to offer. All of the staff was helpful! Their bathrooms were clean. We enjoyed the tomato bisque soup and pimiento cheese grilled sandwich. It was very delicious. They first brought out a regular grilled cheese but when we pointed out the mistake we were quickly provided with the correct sandwich. They have a lot on their menu I look forward to trying! Once you eat you can proceed to the marketplace and browse everything on offer. Lots of antiques and some new items. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a conversation with the cashier where he inquired about who we were and why we were visiting. Will be going back again!

Amazing food!! You can’t choose wrong. I enjoyed the Market Salad and my friend enjoyed her Reuben and potato soup. I asked the pecans be left off my salad due to an allergy and the took great care in making my salad.

If you walk in with a baby stroller make sure to announce it’s a baby and not a dog or you’ll get called out and chased after. Also you’d think telling multiple people about an allergy that you CAN NOT have. They would make sure you get your food without any. Two staff members were great with checking ingredients for us but I still ened up with it being used on the bread and couldn’t eat.
