Cash only, worth it for the vibe. Fries are good, birch beer is great. Hot dogs with the works always hit the spot and service is fast. Would recommend as a pit stop on a roadtrip home. When I went they were also selling ornaments, shot glasses and mugs.

This place is a must stop. If uou know you’re passing by, make sure you got cash. Its nit expensive either. No chilli cheese hotdogs but that is not a deal breaker. Grab a couple hotdogs and hang out.

Amazing hot dogs with toppings for $2.07 in the year 2025 in a cute historic establishment in Buttzville, NJ? Incredible. I came here as a kid on my way home from summer camp and I’m so happy it’s still going strong. May Hot Dog Johnny’s live on for eternity. 1000/10 ⭐️ ❤️

Hot Dog Johnny’s is the definition of a classic done right. From the moment you step near the stand, you’re hit with the nostalgic aroma of the hot dogs and all the toppings—pure magic. The atmosphere is effortlessly welcoming, like something straight out of a neighborhood storybook. There’s just something about the vibe: people chatting, and the simplicity of good food bringing everyone together.
But what truly sets Johnnys apart is its legacy. They’ve been around for years, and you can taste the tradition in every bite. Whether you’re a first-timer or a lifelong regular, you’re treated like part of the family. Their consistency, charm, and that unbeatable snap of the hot dog make them a cornerstone of the community.
Long live Hot Dog Johnny’s —this place is iconic, and it only gets better with time. It is a must to try their frosted birch beer and or freshly made buttermilk.

Hot Dog Johnny’s will always hold a special place in my heart. My family has been coming here since my grandparents were young, so for me, this spot is pure nostalgia. It’s one of those iconic roadside stops that you simply have to try at least once if you’re passing through.
That said, I do feel like something has changed over the years. The quality doesn’t quite feel the same as it once did, which is why I’m giving four stars instead of five. Even so, it’s still a fun stop and a reminder of so many family memories.
If you’re looking for a classic, old-school hot dog stand with history behind it, Hot Dog Johnny’s is still worth the visit.

A classic Jersey hot dog spot that’s been in business for 80 years. Open all year round, the hotdogs served here are your standard hotdog. Nothing too crunchy or thick, and the buns have just enough softness to them. The fries are definitely a favorite for me and are the perfect ratio of crunchy/not too soggy. The food comes out rather quick and you can’t beat the price. Take your pick for indoor or outdoor seating and don’t forget to try a birch beer float!

Hot Dog Johnny’s is known far and wide for their delicious hot dogs. It is a family owned business that has been going strong for many years. They are located on Route 46 between Butzville and Belvidere, which was the main highway between New York City and the Poconos before Interstate 80 was constructed. Many people still travel this route just to stop here for a hot dog – you can tell just by looking at all the out-of-state license plates. The hot dogs come on a warm bun with mustard, chopped onions and a dill pickle wedge on top. Another treat is a mug of birch beer or buttermilk in a frosted glass mug (they are chilled in the freezer). Fries are not available; but, you can buy a bag of chips or other sides. There is always a large crowd at Hot Dog Johnny’s; so, you know the food is fresh and good. Don’t let a long line discourage you. The friendly and courteous crew works very fast and orders are filled quickly, which minimizes any wait time. Limited outdoor eating is provided at picnic tables, or you can eat in your vehicle. If you like hot dogs, stop here and you won’t be disappointed!
