I have been bringing groups to this place for years whenever they visit Riverbank Park for college fairs. On this occasion, I decided to get off the bus and try the food for myself. I ordered the Steak and shrimp with a small side salad to take back to the bus with me. I have NEVER BEEN MORE DISAPPOINTED ABOUT FOOD I RECEIVED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. The steak was bland and didn’t even have a drop of barbecue sauce on it. The shirmp was battered fried and was cold which suggested that it had been fried for a while and had been sitting out. When I think back, I should’ve walked back into the restaurant, show them the food and demand a refund. Never in my life would I expect to buy food from a barbecue establishment and not have the pleasure of enjoying a sweet, succulent piece of meat drenched in a unique sauce. Dallas BBQ ruined my appetite and crushed my expectations for a good meal. The atmosphere and location was fine. The prices were pretty fair too and I didn’t mind the salad. The only good thing here is, I will share my experience with as many people as I possibly can and be sure to advise them to never visit this place. I drive alot, and take groups to New York alot. Be absolutely sure that when ask for good place to eat, or even suggest Dallas BBQ, I will never take them there or recommend stopping there.

This place is fine for a quick date/date night. Prices are reasonable, but be careful with the alcoholic drink prices if you are on a monitored budget. That drink in the large (smal,) bottle will set you back $32.

Great place for margaritas & piña coladas, decent price and they are strong. Food is tasty & standard for BBQ’s, love that they have tostones on the menu, not a BBQ item but they fit in the neighborhood, lol. Music can be turned down a bit, this is a place to eat, not a club, you’re pretty much shouting to hear each other across the table. Service is always good.

Nice place, always a good crowd. The food is good, with the occasional tweak which could make it perfect. One such example is the ribs which are cooked well, but they are drowned in barbecue sauce, which is unnecessary because barbecue is provided on the table. Alongside this, the shrimp used in the half-rack of ribs and shrimp combo are massive and over-breaded. This means you get a bite of breading before you even taste any shrimp.

My final point about the food is they have no brisket platter. They have a brisket sandwich and platters which include brisket, but don’t have it as a solo option. Even if this was more expensive, I would still like to see it.

I have been here multiple times, the service is fast, and the staff are welcoming. This place has been around for years, and I don’t see that changing. Will return, but looking forward to tweaks.

I went to BBQs today to get a quick meal after my grandson Dr. appointment. My encounter when I first went in wasn’t as good. I notice two of the servers sitting down eating and that wasn’t the problem. The problem was me just telling her can she was her hands after eating and now serving customers. She took offense to it so much so she got Rosa to serve instead, which actually worked out better. This is the reason they got 4 stars instead of 2 because she was awesome. She is a people person, patient, good with kids and her personality was what you need to be a server. I would not go back if not for her. The other server should not feel a way if shes eating, busy putting her fingers in your mouth and not wash ur hand without someone telling you. In fact you should always wash your hands when dealing with food. I would like to add after I spoke with her she went around to staff telling them what I told her. I ddint like that because something could have been put in my food. Again, my experience with Rosa gave me a different perspective that all people aren’t alike. Thank you. Moral of the story just follow the rules and noone will have to tell u anything. And I would visit again.

I was really looking forward to dining at BBQs, but the experience was a major disappointment. The food was decent, but the service was horrible. They made me wait over an hour despite saying it would be just 15–25 minutes. While waiting, staff kept asking how many people were in my party—even after I told them five people multiple times. Once seated, it only got worse. A server hit me in the head while moving a booster seat and didn’t even apologize. Waiters were sitting around eating their own food in front of customers, and one kept walking around yelling at other staff members. It was loud, chaotic, and totally unprofessional. On top of that, my order was incomplete—there was no shrimp like I requested. No one checked in, no one cared, and customer service was nonexistent. I honestly couldn’t believe what I was seeing. This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. I will never go back and would not recommend it to anyone.

The food and service were exceptional. Our waitress, Paola, provided excellent care and we look forward to returning. We are especially impressed with the way our waitress, Paola, handled the ordering process and maintained excellent customer service.

Dallas BBQ at the 166th Street and Broadway location offered a mixed experience, ultimately leaving more to be desired from the kitchen than the front-of-house staff.
The strongest asset of this location is undoubtedly the service. Our waiters were prompt, attentive, and genuinely good, ensuring our table was taken care of throughout the meal. This high level of service was a welcome positive in the dining experience.
Unfortunately, the quality of the food was largely mediocre. We were particularly disappointed with some of the specific menu items. The crab cakes were underwhelming and lacked flavor, and the fish tacos suffered from a similar fate, failing to deliver a satisfying taste or texture. Even a simple dish like the cheeseburger had issues, with the cheese being barely melted, which detracted significantly from the overall experience.
The one item I can confidently recommend is the drinks. The beverages were well-made and provided a good value, proving to be the sole culinary highlight of the visit.
In summary: If you are visiting Dallas BBQ, come for the lively atmosphere, the excellent service, and the drinks. However, manage your expectations regarding the food quality, as it falls short of the mark.

20 mins waiting before waitress came to table. Early afternoon not crowded at this time. Rude employees. Silverware was dirty. We asked for plastic forks and spoons. Cornbread was hard as if it were made day prior. We sent that back. Rugs in dining area was dirty and needed to be vacuumed. Upstairs going to bathroom was dirty. The glass on side of stairs had stains everywhere with garbage on floor. Inside bathroom was the same Filth. We wanted out. Asked for check and left. Restaurant obviously doesn’t care being they food is so inexpensive and there customers are mostly urban locals who don’t complain to higher ups!
