Love the food here. It is always so fresh. Hot when it’s supposed to be hot and cold when it’s supposed to be cold. The guacamole is awesome, along with the cheese dip and just regular table salsa. The girls that work the tables are so sweet and kind. Highly recommend!

The honest review
I recently had the misfortune of dining at hacienda el charro aka the thief , and I am absolutely appalled by the deceptive practices and disrespectful treatment I received. Not only did they charge me for items I never received, but they also had the audacity to charge for the simplest things—like grilling onions!

From the start, the menu seemed confusing, and it was hard to tell what was included in my meal. I ordered a basic dish, expecting standard sides and toppings, but when I got the bill, I was shocked to see charges for extras I hadn’t even requested. For instance, I was billed for grilled onions that were never served to me—something so basic, yet they tried to charge me as if it were a luxury topping.

When I brought this up to the server, they were dismissive and unhelpful, and the manager didn’t even have the decency to address my concerns. Instead of apologizing or offering a solution, I was treated as if I were the problem. It felt like the restaurant was more focused on overcharging than providing quality service or food.

But the worst part was the lack of transparency. They added charges to my bill without explaining them, and when I questioned what I was being charged for, I was met with vague answers and a lot of defensiveness. It’s clear that they’ve built their business model on misleading customers and sneaking in hidden fees for things you didn’t order.

To top it all off, the food was underwhelming at best. I’ve had better meals at fast food chains. If they can’t even get something as simple as grilled onions right, it’s no wonder their customer service is so poor.

I would highly advise anyone considering this place to avoid it at all costs. There are plenty of other restaurants that value their customers, provide honest pricing, and actually know how to treat people with respect. This was by far one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. I won’t be coming back, and I strongly recommend you don’t either.

I tried to come here for breakfast but ended up ordering lunch instead (breakfast was still available) I was told by a local that this place doesn’t look like much from the outside but is quite delicious and he wasn’t wrong. Really enjoyed my visit here. Their salsa they serve with the food changed my life, they serve house made chips and salsa which were delicious. I did order a bacon egg and cheese sandwich which was fantastic and cheap.

I did order the Asado Con Queso and to be honest the meat didn’t quite do it for me but it was still good, there was just a few bites that bummed me out a bit. The enchiladas were delicious and all and all I’m dying to come back to truly eat the breakfast. Also their fajitas I saw someone order that fajitas and they look great.

We had a great time, servers were all great and I felt the prices were good. Only notes were the asada meat and the beans and rice were skimpy for sure.

Great place, love their salsa, which they sell by the way!

Best Mexican food in Burnet. The shrimp here are great. We come here often. They’ve recently redone the exterior with some great artwork.

Great all together. I was taken in with my grandson after a very hard day. Dressed not well, no one minded but one customer that looked me up and down. She must have been an Austin transplant.

Food was good! They were out of vodka and service was slow. Menudo was a lil hard. This menudo did not include pig feet nor had hominy (which I prefer). Still had a pleasant flavor. Parking is in the back of restaurant.

Nice quiet until our 10 top group came in. The put tables together for us. Had 2 servers and never let my drink get empty. I had the super combo, all was delicious nothing burnt or bad tasting will go back when I pass through burnet again. I eat at restaurants all over texas, as I travel for work. Will go back for sure.

They had the most delicious food! A large menu for such a small place, too. I had the pork al pastor, which is marinated in pineapple and served with some on the side. It filled me up and had my mom a little bit jealous! The service was excellent, and this will definitely be a place my family visits again in the future.

Pretty good for a small town. The food was definitely tasty, just not that great. However, the service was definitely above average. Lots of attention from the wait staff on a very busy evening with smiles all around.

Always great food and service! I rated atmosphere only 3 because the restrooms need a major upgrade remodel and it is quite cramped at the bigger tables. Needs more room between tables.
