I’m gonna write this review straightforwardly.

The atmosphere is pretty standard—nothing fancy, just a simple place that feels like eating in a kitchen, which I didn’t mind at all.

The service was excellent. The person who took my order was patient and very knowledgeable, clearly knowing what he was doing. It made the ordering process smooth and pleasant.

As for the poke bowl itself, I really enjoyed it! I appreciated how they presented the bowl. Unlike other places that mix everything with the sauce before putting it on the rice (which can look unappetizing), they kept each ingredient beautifully arranged. I chose yellowtail, spicy tuna, and marinated tuna—all of which were fresh, probably because the place is always busy and ingredients sell out quickly.

Interestingly, they don’t have a traditional poke sauce, but you can mix and match your own. I went with wasabi soy sauce, tamari soy sauce, and ponzu. Since I chose marinated tuna, the overall flavor was a bit too salty, but that was my own choice and not the restaurant’s fault.

They also offer a wide variety of toppings. If you get the medium-sized bowl, you can add as many as you like, while the regular size is limited to three.

The only downside for me was the rice. They were kind enough to make sushi rice upon my request (which I really appreciated), but the texture was too soft and watery for my taste. If you prefer firmer rice, I’d suggest going with the brown rice option.

One tip for anyone visiting: I like to order spicy mayo on the side. The best way to enjoy the poke bowl, in my opinion, is to put a little bit of spicy mayo on top of the fish (or any protein), then scoop it with rice, toppings, and protein together in one bite. It’s absolutely delicious!
Spicy Mayo makes everything nice and rich.
**Do not put too much, that ruins all flavor**

Despite the rice issue, everything else was amazing, and I will definitely be back. Highly recommended!

I got a regular bowl priced at $13.75. I thought that was a really fair price for Poké, let alone SF pricing. I had a choice of 2 meats which was nice and they gave 2 decent sized scoops. I liked all of their topping & garnish choices. The regular bowl lasted me 2 meals! Overall I liked this poké shop but they should consider using sushi rice instead of white, it gives it a better texture & flavor…

I lived in San Francisco for four years until this summer. Are used to eat here at least once a week. It is a phenomenal poke spot. If you’re in the area, I think this will meet your expectations.

They have really fresh and quality ingredients. The pilot on. I really like that. And, they have a lot of topics and no extra charge.

Today, I’ve waited inside as a guy built my bowl. He was a really nice guy and very conversational. The people here are warm and friendly.

I love this place so much that following a running accident coming down 18th St., in Castro, a friend in New York, called in a poke bowl from here and had it sent to me.

The poke was flavorful, but portions were somewhat small and the fish was poorly chopped. I got a bunch of irregular chunks and skin on parts. They have a few sitting spots inside but it’s not that nice (tight and smells like fish), so I would recommend takeout and eating in the park nearby. Staff was friendly

I got to this place somewhat frequently. The food is usually pretty good, and the staff is always exceptionally friendly. The last couple of times I’ve gone the fish has not been cut well, or maybe the fish is just a lesser quality. Like, consistently tough chewey bits/skin(?) on the salmon and yellow tail. The first time I thought maybe it was just a fluke, but the second time now two weeks later and it’s worse than before. I ate about half of it before it just wasn’t appetizing anymore.

I don’t find myself in this neighborhood very often, but I’a Poke is always a solid lunch option when I do. A small but mighty place with flavourful options, lol. There’s some indoor seating available, but on a nice day I like to take my bowl to-go and eat at Dolores Park nearby.

If you get overwhelmed by all the mix-in choices (same!) I’a has, they also offer preset poke bowls and burritos, and the staff is available to suggest combinations. The location is easy to reach on foot or by public transit (there’s a MUNI station close by).

Dainty and cutesy little poke bar with limited counter seating. I’a has very fresh tunas and one of the better marinades in the city. They also have a small variety of other proteins if tuna isn’t your jam. Quite affordable for its location. I would recommend against adding avocado if you’re making your own bowl— extra $1 for a quarter, which also count as a topping itself for the small bowl might be a little steep for some.

Never had a poke bowl before, won’t be the last time, the combination of flavors was absolutely delicious and super filling. The staff were extremely nice, helpful, and friendly. I’ll have to come back here for the sushi burrito next time!
