The menu is full of tasty options like our eggs Benedict, moons omelettes, pancakes, French toast, and hand pressed burgers. It also has so many gluten free and vegetarian options to try. Moons kitchen started out as a tackle shop and Mrs. Moons started selling sandwiches out of it for the fisherman and later she turned it into a full on restaurant in 1955. The current owners are Gary and Shelly Torrey. All in all it has a great atmosphere and even better food, come on in and give it a try!

This long-standing, homey diner draws crowds for its hearty breakfast & lunch dishes served all day.

A great local spot serving fresh scratch made food. No reservations so get there early or be prepared to wait a little, I was told it was going to be a about 35 min and it was exactly 35 minutes, so they have their system down pretty good. Our table overlooked 8th Street, great for people watching. All of the food was tasty and you could tell they make it all fresh. Would definitely recommend.

Wow, this food is amazing! Service started off rocky (I watched 5 people behind the bar look very confused) but it picked up a bit after ordering. The food has such great taste and the potatoes are amazing.

I’ll definitely be back when in town!

Visited recently after not having been for years. Still a great breakfast and great service. Food options are tasty and well prepared and they still have a fun kitchy decor vibe even in the new location. Will definitely be back!

It had been about 3 years since we last dined at Moon’s so I was excited to try out the food at their new location. Sad to say that I was greatly disappointed with the food.

Food ordered:
John Wayne Breakfast, Chicken Fajita Hash and a single pancake.

The John Wayne Breakfast was underwhelming and disappointing for its price. The biscuit tasted rather doughy and almost raw, and the gravy came out cold, mediocre and lacking in flavor. The bacon was overdone and was just about close to burning by the time it was placed on my plate. The pancake was the most disappointing part of the breakfast because I was looking forward to it… I was expecting to get a taste of or something close to that signature diner pancake flavor but for whatever reason it tasted gummy/rubbery… it reminded me of a pancake batter that has been over-mixed and if you know anything about making good pancakes you know not to over-mix the batter.

For whatever reason, the syrup tasted like it was watered down; almost as though they were trying to stretch it? I found myself using way more syrup than I typically do and even then it still remained flat. Besides that it had a weird flavor that my husband also agreed on.

On the brighter side, the chicken fajita hash was pretty tasty and I will admit that their portions are generous given how pricey the food is. I was however disappointed in the J.W. Breakfast and their pancake. The hot chocolate I got was good, although I needed to water it down because it was insanely sweet.

Service was great and our server was a gem! Atmosphere was relaxed and comfy. Would we eat here again? Probably not as it isn’t worth the price.

The most interesting thing about eating at Moon’s is actually just finding the darn place. While it’s address is on Main its main entrance equipped with escalators to the second floor are located off of the pedestrian plaza without a street number address to be found anywhere.
I was pleasantly surprised with, considering how hard it was to find, that it was as busy as it was and with predominantly a younger crowd.
Something about the decor really clicked with me and Becca who attended to my table was especially pleasant and very attentive. Another funny thing was the pollished concrete floor and how it interacted with the ball type castors on the bottom of the chairs. This combination made it especially easy for my chair to move around and glide away from the table when I applied any kind of pressure against the table. Kind of had to wedge my feet to the floor to keep me in place. Would you otherwise notice this; I doubt it. But I’m off that way.
Fun place, good food, music not too loud….yes I would return, especially since I know how to find it now.

Moon’s Kitchen Cafe Official Denver Omelet Review

Appearance: 9.0
Full plate filled to the brim with hashbrowns, fresh toast, and the one and only Denver Omelet. Omelet had a light blanket of cheese, ingredients mixed within the egg, and a buttery cooked edge around the body of the Omelet.

Ingredients: 8.5
Egg quality was very good and fluffy. Ham had a smoky aftertaste which was pleasant, however the size of the cubed ham was a little larger than I’d prefer. Peppers and onions were good but surprisingly did not stand out flavor wise. Cheese was nicely layered and did not overwhelm the experience.

Taste: 8.75
This omelet speaks for itself. The taste was very delicious and had high quality ingredients, especially the eggs. The butter base was very yummy and worked well with the onion and eggs. Overall a very well-rounded flavor.

Experience: 9.5
Moon’s Kitchen Cafe was a very enjoyable Denver Omelet experience. Service was wonderful, atmosphere is vibey, and the location is in the heart of Boise. The fresh jam was a standout part of my experience, it was absolutely amazing. Toast was high quality, fresh pulp orange juice was great, and the potatoes were perfectly seasoned. I’d say the only .5 point mark down is that it is on the pricier side, however it is well worth it!!!

Total Denver Omelet Review Score: 35.75 / 40

You guys! It’s worth finding parking. Breakfast here was my favorite meal of my whole trip to Boise (and we are at some fancy schmancy places!)
Such a fun atmosphere, our waitress (Hailey) was absolutely darling & very efficient….. but the best part… THE FOOD! The Irish Beni, which I ordered unassembled, was incredible. The corned beef is top notch! Beni sauce is fabulous. Such great flavor. We also ordered a latte that was also delicious! We will definitely be back. 10 outta 10

The best breakfast in Boise. And for Hollandaise and Benedict’s, incredible. The owner has invented his own proprietary process for the Hollandaise sauce and it’s incredible. The Beignets are also the absolute best outside of New Orleans. If we could give 10 stars, we would.

I don’t want to give a good feedback due to I want the place to be a secret. Exceptional!
Everyone worked together, pleasant attitudes. Our waitress, Ashland was such a gem.
Hubby had chicken fried steak, hash browns and toast, great food. I had 2 eggs, hashbrowns with gravey and 2 stripe of bacon. Delicious. The kitchen is ran exceptionally well, good flow. Positive attitudes.

First time visiting Moon’s Cafe downtown, and the experience was one of a kind. Firstly, you walk into the restaurant on the second floor, and the atmosphere greets you warmly. The decor of the restaurant is just so well thought out and the place is well lit, with a vintage classic style. Secondly, we were attended to by Dakota who gave us impeccable service and was very kindly attentive to us, coming to check in on us intermittently to make sure we were happy with our food and service. Lastly, I had the best Benedict I’ve ever tasted in all my times of trying breakfast restaurants. All in all, the experience was a great first impression and I will definitely be coming back again and again to this restaurant.
