Depends on the day you go, or the time of day. Sometimes you have a great experience, and others it’s a nightmare.
Sometimes the food takes forever, other times it’s quick. Sometimes you don’t get your drinks until the bring your food. Sometimes the waiter or waitress comes 2 times to your table. Once to bring food and drinks and another to bring the check…. Sometimes you get great portions of fries, or sometimes you get the diet version…
And other times it has been fantastic. It’s like playing roulette. If you like that. This is your place….

WORST SERVICE EVER! This location has hands down the worst service of any restaurant I have EVER been to. I have been there probably 5 times due to the proximity of my job, and have had “adequate” service once and walked out 3 times. Today I walk in, sit down and hear “we will be with you shortly” twice while watching a younger girl (apparently her and her brother work there per a co-worker) walking back and forth chatting on her cell phone. She offered absolutely no help whatsoever. If I could give this a negative star review I would, I feel like 1 star is too nice! Folks if you value a restaurant that appreciates a customer walking through their door to spend their money, DO NOT GO HERE!

Food at Steak n Shake is mostly good however when I went this time I waited over 45 minutes and no one asked me my order. Someone on my check at another table bought a milkshake (which are always so delicious) and I never got to order one myself. When I gave up we had to wait another 20 minutes just to pay. There were plenty of workers but none of them were even working as hard as they should have been. Overall food is good but service is so bad.

I would first like to say that I have never been treated so disrespectfully at an eating establishment. If I could give 0 stars, I would. I came around 10:00 with a 10-12 group of people. We have done this many times before, and it has never been a problem. When we first walked in, the dining room was pretty empty. Only 4 tables were filled. We stood there watching the waitress and the cashiers, waiting to be seated. They didnt even acknowledge that a large group had just entered the establishment. The waitresses were avoiding us, making awkward eye contact as they passed. After about 10 minutes, a person in our group decided to say something about us not being seated. He was very polite, and asked, “I don’t mean to be rude or bother you, but is there anyway we are able to be seated?” The cashier didn’t even reply, just stared and blinked at him. Then a gentleman sitting at the bar, overheard my friend ask, and then said, “I guess y’all are just going to stand there.” My friend then replied, “That isn’t what we came here to do.” I decided that I had had enough, and walked out, encouraging my friends to follow. We all left. This establishment was very rude and disrespectful, and will not be receiving any further services from me.

Waitress sat us & seems very unenthusiastic about having customers. Food was good, but didn’t get any napkins or silverware & had already started eating before we got any. Server quickly dropped off our check when we weren’t even halfway through our meal. We decided we wanted milkshakes and the server never came back. I overheard another server tell ours that she was stepping outside (assumably for a smoke) when there was dirty tables everywhere. You would think that being in the area that it’s in , the management would step up their game. Very disappointed.

One server on the floor, five tables dirty, five tables occupied. Twenty minutes to get drinks. Thirty minutes to place my order. No refills, no silverware. The only good thing about this visit was the food was hot and fresh. Everything else was a huge disappointment.

I’ve eaten at this Steak N Shake for about 8 years regularly, but the past year or so has seen a severe decline. After waiting to be seated, we waited another 10 minutes with out any one greeting us or taking a drink order. There were only 2 waiter’s/waitresses on duty with a not very full restaurant. Management must be lacking in a very bad way, either not appropriately training their personnel, or failing to adequately staff for their busy times. I hate seeing this happen at my favorite restaurant, but after today I wont be returning. What ever happened to quality service?
Update: Today I thought I would give it a second chance at this Steak N Shake, poor choice on my part. Still substandard food, poor service, and missing items.

We came here for a late night dinner. I placed my order in the iPhone app which I expected to be somewhat easy. The issues arrived when I got at the store and the order wasn’t even started even though it was supposed to be ready. The food was good although my burger was not done all the way through. I ended up having to microwave it when I got home. The Prime Burger was really tasty and had a unique favor. I would recommend it but make sure you go in and not place a internet order.

This was the second Steak ‘n Shake we went to for the night because the first one seemed busy and understaffed. So we we’re just like okay that’s okay well just go to another one. So we went to this one on Montgomery and the service was good. Until I didn’t know what shake I wanted yet, so I ordered mine a little later and then they forgot about it. We waited for about 20 minutes then got up to pay. When I got there, my waitress was checking us out and I asked about the strawberry shake that I ordered and she acted like I never ordered it. She just said “nope, it doesn’t seem like you ordered it” but I did and the whole restaurant probably remembered because she confirmed the shake across the restaurant. I came for the shake, not even the burger, and I left unsatisfied because the shake was forgotten and I was charged for the shake anyway.

This is a typical steak n shake. Nothing fantastic but no issues while we were there. Our server was by herself and kept apologizing for taking too long, but she really didn’t take long and was great. The food was fine. It wasn’t busy so that worked out well for us!
