Reviews
There is a smell of something wet when you near the hostage stand, but it fades away as you leave that area.
My son loves seafood. Shrimp, crab, lobster, oysters, you name it. Eats it regularly. So he was excited to try a place called Red Lobster. They let him pick out the lobster that he wanted to eat. All but one of the lobsters were huddled together on the left side of the tank. The one my son wanted kept fighting to stay in the tank and kept backing himself into the left corner. So they got him the very calm, easy one hanging out by himself on the right side.
They brought out our food and he was ecstatic. My son dug right into the lobster starting with the claw. He got the meat out, took a bite, and just froze. He started looking around for a napkin to spit it in. The smell alone was honestly horrific. I’m writing this review over 5 hours later and we are still literally gagging from the smell. It wasn’t fishy… it was just…. horrendous. We asked our waitress to smell it and she said it was a normal smell.
My son then cracked open the tail to see if the meat was any better. Took one bite and had to spit it out. Again, very nasty and unpleasant smelling. I told our waitress that he was unable to eat the lobster due to the smell and taste. She said she’d go talk to the manager and see what they can do. It wasn’t even a minute later and she came back and said there was nothing they could do about it. I asked to speak with the manager so she could smell this lobster herself. She came over, smelled the lobster and stated she didn’t smell the unpleasant smell that we were talking about. I regret not asking if she’d like to crack open the other claw and take a bite. Due to how quickly our waitress came back and let us know there was nothing that they were willing to do, and how the manager didn’t smell what we are STILL gagging over, I went ahead and paid knowing that I wouldn’t ever be back.
It’s currently midnight and my son is up with bad stomach cramps, diarrhea, and nausea. This is not his first rodeo with seafood. We were not looking for a free lobster meal or just to give a full lobster a “try”. That lobster was very foul and it’s a shame that they couldn’t admit that.
Today, I placed a pickup order. I was disappointed with the entire experience. My order contained fried fish. The fish I was given were in pieces from falling apart. Additionally, I received the incorrect side item. To make matters worse, I discovered that the tartar sauce had undergone a drastic change. No kidding, Red Lobster’s tartar sauce used to be the best out of all the seafood restaurants in Charleston. Now it is just disgusting and inedible! And, to top it off, the biscuits were burnt. Please refer to the attached images.
Furthermore, items on the menu seem to be dwindling with every order placed. For example, the blue cheese dressing for salad is no longer offered!
Basically, Red Lobster used to be enjoyable, but now it is an EXPENSIVE LETDOWN! I do not mind spending money on decent food. However, I have a big problem with spending money on poor-quality food and food that’s not enjoyable.
Red Lobster, please deliver high-quality food and service to match your menu prices. If not, please do all of us a favor and close the business.
From the moment I walked in, the greeting was warm and welcoming, setting the tone for a very comfortable atmosphere. Jasmin provided outstanding customer service throughout my visit—she was pleasant, attentive, and consistently checked in to make sure everything was perfect.
Vickie the manager also deserves special recognition. Even during busy moments, she took the time to personally greet me and ensure that the service being provided was excellent. That level of professionalism and care truly makes a difference.
I love this place and will definitely return. Great service keeps customers happy again and again, and Red Lobster in North Charleston clearly understands that. The recognition shown to veterans is also very pleasing and deeply appreciated.
Overall, an exceptional experience—thank you Jasmin and the Vickie (manager) for going above and beyond! The Mandy Experience
