Excellent service and food! Very busy during lunch, but that did not affect service. Ava (not sure of sp) was an efficient and sweet server. Nice selection of lunch specials. Had shrimp poboy, crawfish etouffee, and a side of hush puppies. Everything was fresh and flavorful! Iced tea was freshly brewed. We will definitely return.

Tammy was our server and she was amazing! She was so friendly and helped us choose the best food we had our whole trip to Austin!! Not only is this an amazing oyster bar but also has the best Thai food my husband and I have ever had! Shrimp spring rolls, a dozen oysters, salt and pepper calamari, chicken Pad Thai, it all was delish!! Tammy gets a raise, we loved everything! #1 chefs!

Very different than I expected, it’s NOT just an oyster bar with some fried seafood baskets on the side. It’s good raw oysters, weak cocktail sauce, but strong horseradish, yum. Instead of just fried seafood baskets, there are all kinds of Thai and Asian food options. Hubby had shrimp pad Thai, and I had the crawfish etoufe. I liked his better than mine, BUT I have my own crawfish etoufe recipe that I love. Hubby thought theirs was good, but it wasn’t to my liking. His pad Thai was excellent.

Great spot if you are a fan of oysters, sports, and affordable beer!
Frist time i went drop by Deckhand was on new year’s eve. I was seated in front a gaint tv which was playing the UT game. Even as a non sports watch the ambiance was great.
I ordered a half dozen oysters, a jumbo blue moon, and sate shrimp.
The oyster were good. They came with horseradish, cocktail sauce, lemon, and this amazing house oysters sauce that goes on raw oysters.
The shrimp sate was also really good. I came out a bit later and i forgot to take a picture.
I really enjoy this place. I love oysters but am sometimes wary of eating them in Texas, but I 100% trust this place.

The best oyster bar I’ve even been to in Texas! Oysters were great and they gave me a house sauce to put on them was of this world. I would drink it on its own. The Crying Boar (Thai Styke Sliced Pork Lettuce Wraps) were amazing. Several Thai and Vietnamese items on the menu and I will be back to try those as well.

If you’ve never had Deckhands you in for a true treat.
Food portions are large which is a win in my book. But the flavors of literally EVERYTHING on the menu are Freaking FANTASTIC!
The fried platters are always cooked perfectly and have a true unique flavor. Their Asian infusion throughout the options standout in the best of ways!
Ive tried multiple plates and have yet to have a single bad bite across the options.
I could eat here once a week and never get burned out!
*I’ve been to both locations but the one on South Lamar has changed owners and the name is now Ocean Blue. So you’re best bet is the Deckhands up north off Louis Henna.

First experience having fresh oysters and I was highly satisfied; great customer service from start to finish and fresh flavorful oysters: Deckhand (photo) & La Frontera oysters were both great.

The stuffed mussels were overcooked and tuff. Grilled oysters were okay. The hush puppies were hard and overcooked, couldn’t eat them. The fried oyster/shrimp plate was mediocre with the tempura batter instead of cornmeal/flour mixture.

It was kind of loud. Lots of people sitting at the bar. I had a really pleasant and informative waitress. The pad Thai had a good flavor, just enough food, not too much or too little. Good prices on both bottle and draft beer.
