The Capital Burger is a great spot in DC, right next to the Convention Center, one minute from the metro, and across from the iconic Apple Store at the Library. The atmosphere feels like a sports bar but works perfectly for any casual occasion: couples, friends, family, or even work groups.

The food is classic American with a strong focus on burgers. The menu is small but very well curated, and everything I’ve tried has been delicious. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients. Even though it gets busy, the staff is on top of everything and the service is always attentive. Excellent value for the price. Easily my favorite burger place in DC

Hands down the best burger I’ve ever had. I know that’s not saying much as a Canadian, but every time I make it out to D.C., I make a point of coming back.

The mushroom burger was exceptional—perfectly cooked, deeply savory, and rich without being heavy. The balance was spot-on, with the mushrooms adding real depth rather than acting as a garnish. The truffle fries were crisp, and well-seasoned.

The bacon old fashioned deserves its own mention. Smoky, slightly sweet, and genuinely well-constructed, not a gimmick. It paired surprisingly well with the burger and felt thought-through.

As soon as we got there, we were attended very quickly and seated fast. The food was well cooked in a very delicious lots of flavor. The wait time for our food and drinks was not more than like 10-15 minutes depending on what you order. Our server name was David and his service was amazing. He was very kind quick and knowledgeable and I definitely recommend him. We will be coming back! Overall, 10/10. We got the black bean burger and the bacon burger with fries and the chili glazed wings with truffle fries. We also got the chocolate mousse dessert. So good.

Damn good burger! The capital burger is a French onion style burger, thick, juicy, messy but worth it. The classic bacon burger is simply awesome. The pretzel and dipping cheese, one of the best I’ve had. Nice place in D.C. with an impressive bar as well.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 – Exceptional Service and an Outstanding Experience

I had an incredible dining experience at Capitol Burger in DC, thanks in large part to the manager, Rob. I have specific dietary restrictions, and he went above and beyond to ensure my meal was prepared safely and exactly to my needs. He checked in multiple times, clearly communicated with the kitchen, and truly made me feel cared for rather than like an inconvenience.

I brought friends who had never been here before, and from start to finish we were all treated wonderfully. My meal was perfect, the adjustments were spot-on, and the level of attention and professionalism made the whole experience stand out.

It’s rare to find a restaurant where you feel both welcomed and genuinely looked after, but Capitol Burger delivered that and more. Huge thanks to Rob and the team—you made our night memorable, and I’ll absolutely be returning! Highly recommended.

⭐️ The Capital Burger – Washington, DC
Rating: 9.5/10

I stopped by The Capital Burger and kicked things off with the warm pretzel appetizer, which came with a creamy cheese dipping sauce. The pretzel had the perfect balance of soft and chewy, and the cheese sauce was rich and flavorful. What really stood out to me was that there was plenty of sauce — enough to enjoy with every bite (a small but huge win compared to spots that skimp on dips).

For my entrée, I went with their signature Capital Burger, cooked medium-rare, and added bacon and an egg for that perfect finishing touch. When the plate arrived, it looked fantastic — juicy patty, melty cheese, and the bacon and egg stacked beautifully on top. Every bite was packed with flavor. You could tell the beef was fresh and high-quality, and everything from the bun to the toppings worked together perfectly.

Overall, this place lived up to the hype. Great presentation, excellent flavors, and friendly service. I’ll definitely be back soon — this one’s an easy 9.5/10 for me!

As good as a burger gets. Pat La Frieda meat, perfect cook on the burger. It was legit the best burger I ever had and I go a ton of burger spots around NYC and tri state area. Our waitress Glamour was also great and suggested a local red lager that was so flavorful. Awesome food and experience.

I recently ordered takeout from The Capital Burger in DC and went with their Signature Burger along with a fresh salad. The burger lived up to its reputation—juicy, flavorful, and crafted with care. The salad was a perfect complement, crisp and refreshing, rounding out the meal nicely.

What really stood out, though, was the service. Alex was amazing in helping me decide quickly, guiding me toward the best options without hesitation. The process was smooth, efficient, and left me feeling confident in my choices.

Overall, a fantastic takeout experience—delicious food, great quality, and customer first approach!

Great place for lunch or dinner. The atmosphere is old DC with dark wood, long wrap around bar with indoor and out door seating.
They specialize in Scotch, but have a wealth of other drinks including specialty cocktails.
The appetizers are generous and can easily serve as a lunch. The salads are the same. I had their Bacon Cheeseburger with the tomato jam that was really flavorful, tender and well prepared. It came with well salted fries.
This is now my goto for lunches on my occasional trips to my DC office.
