We made a reservation for a table for 3 at 7pm. Our table was ready when we arrived. Service was prompt, friendly and efficient. The restaurant, IL Basilico Trattoria, is clean and well decorated.
We shared the calamari appetizer with marinara sauce. It was a generous amount suitable for the three of us, and it was cooked perfectly.
I had my usual Italian restaurant order, eggplant Parmesan. My wife had gnocchi. Both were excellent.
The restaurant is child friendly. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their meals. There’s plenty of free parking in the lot out front, and the venue is wheelchair accessible.
I highly recommend Il Basilico Trattoria.

We ordered the chicken marsala, but the dish arrived with an overcooked, tough piece of chicken, pasta and no marsala sauce at all. This is being advertised as Italian cuisine, which makes the experience especially disappointing.
I understand that the previous owner—who consistently served excellent, authentic Italian food for many years—has sold the restaurant. Unfortunately, the current offering falls far short of that standard. If a dish cannot be prepared correctly, it should not be served.

Quite possibly the worst food I have ever experienced. Frutti de mar had no lump crab, a few mushy not edible small bay scallops and 3 overcooked shrimp. We also got angel hair vege dish with “garlic wine” sauce…there was no hint garlic, wine or flavor in this dish. Also, A side of salmon that tasted freezer burnt, entire dish had no flavor at all and the worst part…canned mushrooms. There was nothing Italian about this place and it is very disappointing bc it used to be good. If I could give zero stars on food I would. Server was kind.

My daughter and I happened to be in the area so we stopped by for lunch, unplanned. We were highly impressed with the quality of food, the generous portions of food, and the warm-hearted customer service from our server, Sophia. She was friendly, professional, and made us feel welcome. Il Basilico Trattoria is absolutely, positively in the top-tier of Italian restaurants in Central Maryland. 5 stars all the way!!! ( in photo below: stromboli, stuffed shells w/ spinach & marinara, caesar salad, noci salad, side of broccoli)

This was my first time eating at this place and it did not disappoint! The staff was wonderful and the spaghetti pizza with meat sauce was out of this world. I highly recommend trying it!. One piece is an entire meal.

Our first time at this Timonium staple. We had heard good things about the food and the fact that it was BYOB sealed the deal.
It is a very popular local restaurant so I would recommend a reservation. The restaurant had an old world charm with vinyl covered tables and seats with ripped upholstery.
The pizza was excellent with sausage that actually looked and tasted like sausage: I would go back for the pizza. I would give the Arancini a miss. It was stodgy and bland. The fried calamari however was executed perfectly.
The salad was nothing phenomenal. We had the Nico and there was barely any Gorgonzola and the salad had no finesse.
They have an excellent marinara and ragu. So you can’t go wrong with any entree with a red sauce. The Chicken Parmigiana was paper thin and over done to the point of it being rubbery. The MamaPia Ragu with the sausage and pork ribs and brasiole was good. Thought the brasiole was over done and dry. The pork ribs were delicious . The Chicken Alfredo was horrible. bland with no seasonings . It did jot even have salt added . For a simple dish like this it was disappointing. The chicken picatta was very lemony and very bland. Large portions so come hungry as long as you can tolerate the poorly executed dishes
I would do it again only for the pizza and ragu. Stay away from anything that dose not have a red sauce.

Ordered take out to try to fina a great Stromboli. This is the best Stromboli ever! They even look beautiful! Also super nice people! Can’t wait to dine in here sometime with my family. We are always on the go but we are going to make time to eat in!

Always on the hunt for a quality Chicken Marsala and this was well below the bar of quality. The flour dredge was very soggy and pasty. Zero effort to even try and achieve a golden brown or sear on the already bland chicken. Minimal sauce as you can see from the pic. Some of the penne was coated with “Marsala sauce” while the majority was nude and bland. This was nothing more than penne with boiled chicken with a borderline raw flower dredge. Never do I send food back or write negative reviews, but this was really not good at all.

The service has improved, the food is very good especially the meatballs and chicken but the atmospheres got worse. The atmosphere wasn’t good the last time I was here years ago but now there rips the the seats and the dining room looks like something out of a horror movie. I am still giving them a 4 out 5 because I will have to consider going out of my way to do carry out even if they are 15 minutes away from my home.
