I was not being fecious. As a 1st time customer trying to be served, why would I approach the people serving me in that manner?
*I did call the restaurant and am now waiting for a call back from the owner.
2nd: We wouldn’t have to respond to each other in the comments if you, as a respectable business owner, would of called me,, the dissatisfied customer, back. The fact that I called your restaurant to discuss and resolve this matter should be enough. The fact that you didn’t extend the opportunity for me to personally discuss my concerns speaks volumes over your comments.
Apparently, it is not of concern. Loud and clear.
*point proven and thank you*
Do not support them. They are really rude, the establishment looks dirty, and they lack customer service skills over all.Went there for the first time on 3/17/22, to order. I asked if they had shrimp fried rice. Guy at the window said yes (never made eye contact) and said ‘small or large’. I asked how much they were bc the price may depend on the size I get. The lady (using the word loosely) standing behind him at the window interjected, ‘small or large’ with her hands on her hips and a scowl on her face. I asked how much they both cost. She proceeded to repeat small or large several times with thee nastiest tone and look on her face. I responded, “why are you talking to me like that?!” “You’re really rude and nasty.” She walked away talking under her breath.
If it was a lack of comprehension, their presentation would of been different, but it wasn’t. They just wanted to be nasty overall. ‘Would you like a small or large? vs. ‘Small or large!’ Repetitively and with visibly noted attitude.
So…. I went next door PENDANG and spent $40 and had an experience that made up for what I just endured.
A local business owner heard the exchange nearby and confirmed that they have been and are really rude to black people and he will never support them again. I stayed outside after ordering from PENDANG and noticed a few other people who were not black were not getting the same treatment. Yikes!
Thumbs way down!
Lucky Fortune brings bad luck.
The way she spoke to me was degrading, and I couldn’t help but wonder if her behavior was racially motivated. Would she have treated a white customer the same way-yelling and slamming her hand on the counter? It’s sad to see businesses that rely heavily on Black customers treat people of color with such blatant disrespect.
Do not buy from this place. They don’t deserve your hard earned money.
Update: After I left my review, I started reading others and noticed a disturbing pattern-multiple people have called out this place for being racist toward Black customers. It’s not just one or two complaints; it’s a recurring issue. The owner or staff keep responding to these reviews denying any racism, but when so many people are sharing the same experience, it speaks volumes. This behavior is unacceptable.
The Lo mein was an add on only because my friend raved about how good it is… I was Disappointed to say the least. It had no flavor and I had to drown it in soy sauce.
The Mongolian Beef was flavorful however, there was barely any beef. It was all onions and scallions. The picture I posted was AFTER I had picked out most of the scallions (approx 1/2 cup) and I was still left with a container full of onions. Call me crazy, but for $13 I expect more beef and less onions.
I’ve frequented this restaurant often, and my issue is usually the same: the waiting staff, particularly the older and younger women, are insulting. I usually look passed it but it has become increasingly worse. Today the older women yelled in my face. I declined to purchase the food after that and I do not believe I will be patronizing this establishment any longer. They do not uphold the ethos of the town in which we live. Hopefully they will take this critique and practice better customer service.
Update:
I want to add that when looking at the reviews from customers it seemed to be Black customers who have vocalized concerns of an extremely rude waiting staff. This is very concerning as it produces the question of discrimination due to racist. Again their behaviors especially if racist does not fit the ethos of South Orange. I will not be patronizing this establishment. However I would like to add that the young man that works there is very kind and helpful.
AND DONT REPLY TO ME WITH LIES KNOWING YOUR’E NOT GOING TO CHANGE. DONT SAY BETTER DO BETTER !!!!!
