Homey chain BBQ joint plating pulled pork, chicken & baked potatoes, with a signature white sauce.

A good, old-fashioned BBQ family restaurant. Was immediately greeted and seated upon arrival for lunch. I ordered the smoked brisket, Mac and cheese, and collard greens. For dessert, I ordered the coconut cream pie. Everything was delicious! The staff was friendly and provided great service. Will definitely be back!

Stopped here for dinner tonight and had a great meal. We each tried a 3 meat combo plate, and the portions were HUGE! The brisket was good…nice and tender. The ribs were very tender and the meat fell off the bones. The chicken was slightly dry, but the flavor was good. The pulled pork was very good as well. The service was quick and friendly, and the prices were very reasonable…especially for the serving sizes. We will have leftovers for at least a couple of days. Neither of us liked the sauces….we both prefer spicier, tomato-based sauce as opposed to the vinegary sauces they have in this area….but the meat was juicy enough that we ate it without sauce. Overall, a good experience!

Best barbeque I ever had in my life. The potato was the biggest potato I’ve ever seen. And it was delicious. The pulled pork sandwich was also delicious. Their sweet tea is the best I’ve ever had also. The prices are super cheap, and you get food for a couple days. I would come back every week if I could.

great flavor, friendly staff, big servings. They also sold good looking t-shirts of about $25. The restaurant seemed to stay busy during lunch time but they provided fast service. They have a drive thru, but it seemed too congested for me so we just ordered to go from inside the restaurant since we had pets. The menu has a good size selection of meal combinations, so its good to know what you want before coming to avoid holding up the line. Overall it was a great experience.

We stopped in here on our way back to Birmingham from Nashville. The dining area was pretty open, but there was a big football game on so I’m sure people were staying in for the game. The chicken was so good, you could taste the smoke in the meat. I asked for warm sauce, I didn’t want the room temperature sauce on the table, that was accommodated. The potato salad is mayonnaise and mustard, but still really good. My preference is mustard based. Definitely give it a try, you won’t be disappointed. The baked beans were very good, with flavor, not just plain pork n beans which many restaurants dress up. My husband opted for the pork, again full of flavor and you could taste the smoke. He also asked for warmed sauce, twice but we never received. The prices are extremely reasonable. Would love it if there was one closer to us in Birmingham. Chris Lily definitely knows what he is doing as you can see by all the trophies on your way into the restaurant. It is definitely worth the detour off I-65 to stop in this classic barbecue restaurant, I promise you will not be disappointed and you will leave full!

I got the ribs and three meat platter. Spare ribs were very good. The brisket was good but a little too tender. The turkey flavor was good but a little dry. The pulled pork was okay. The mac and cheese and the baked beans were very good. Overall I would give this place an 8 out of 10 rating.

Phenomenal BBQ. Had the wings to start which were some of the best wings I’ve ever had. The Bob Gibson Combo plate was excellent. I got spare ribs, brisket, and pulled pork. They were all great. The Mac n cheese and green beans were some of the sides I’ve ever had at a BBQ joint. Highly recommend. I was headed to Nashville from Mobile and had to take a little detour to eat here and so glad I did.

First time for my Family and I. Heard good things and overall, good BarBQ. I grew up on west coast, so a local might have a different opinion.
Pros:
Brisket: Some pieces were dry (the flat) but the other pieces were tender and pulled apart appropriately.
Pulled pork: good flavor and overall good pulled pork. There bbq sauce was a good compliment.
Ribs: good smoke and flavor. Would order these again.
Sides: Mac n Cheese and potatoe salad were good.
Only Cons: Green beans were “ok”, but lacked flavor. Basic boiled green beans.
Coleslaw: Was horrible and I originally didnt kniw what this blended green side was, until i tasted it. Lots of vinegar with a hint of apple, but texture was not appetizing.
Overall, I would come back, but stick with the mac n cheese for a side.

I’ve been wanting to try BBG for years. It did not disappoint, great flavor on everything I ate and drank. When you walk in and pass numerous Memphis in May trophy’s – you know you’re in for a treat. Don’t forget to eat or take home some pie.
