We went to Cracker Barrel in 2 Indiana places 4 times during the last 2 weeks. 3 of the 4 visits were excellent….great food, friendly fast service. One visit we waited 20 minutes for our food at the Merrillville Cracker Barrel on 12/18. Don’t know what was going on that day as we had been there before and had excellent service. We also waited quite a while to be seated and ended up seated near the kitchen….I could actually look into the kitchen from where I was. So not the best seats. Our waitress was pleasant and apologetic but late with bringing drinks. All in all not a great experience.

Two orders of meatloaf with different sides, one breakfast meal, and one kids meal for dinner. Breakfast meal didn’t impress, the hashbrowns were mushy instead of crisp and the meat sampler was disappointing as the sausage just didn’t taste right and the ham slice was very dry. The pancakes were good, however the small bottle of syrup wasn’t enough as it was absorbed by the pancakes. The meatloaf meals were filling.

I recently visited Cracker Barrel Old Country Store and tried several dishes:
– Chicken N’ Dumplings: I was expecting some flavor inside the dumplings, but they were quite bland. However, this might be good for someone who can’t chew too much or hard food.
– Meatloaf: It wasn’t bad; just a regular meatloaf, nothing extraordinary.
– Friday Fish Fry: It was so-so. The mac n cheese as a side dish was good though.
– Bee Sting Chicken Tenders: I liked the sauce, but the chicken was a little hard.
Overall, a mixed experience. Some dishes were decent, while others could use improvement

First time here and I’m impressed! Staff is pretty accommodating and our server was very lovely (didn’t get her name but she had a nose ring – thank you, dear!)
They have little games to kee you entertained while you wait for your food! Lots of food choices (worth the price too). Will definitely keep coming back!

Food was cold and disgusting.
Had to send her back three times for corrected food. The rest gave up and at what they were given (not what they ordered)
It took over 40 mins for food. She didn’t check on us other than once to bring bread about 1 minute before the food came out.
You could tell it had been up and done but she decided to wait till all plates were done or something. I really dont know. The only thing edible was my 2nd steak I had to send back since it was Jerky by the time I got it. So the new one was very fresh and tasted fair. It was very fatty though and had little flavor other than the fat. I said something at the counter when I paid. She said “Ope sorry about that”
I emailed them. They sent me one meal on them…….

Haven’t been to a Cracker Barrel in years, and decided to come in on a Friday evening to see if it was still any good. They were pretty busy, but still got seated after only about 5 minutes. The wait on the food was a bit longer, but that was to be expected on a Friday night. I like the fact that they now serve beer, though it would be nice to see more of a selection. They advertise that they offer craft beers, but there wasn’t a single one on the menu…..all macros. The food was just as fantastic as ever. Country fried steak, amazing! As an added bonus, this is one of the very few places around here where you can get fried okra! And talk about value…..two gut busting dinners with enough leftovers for a third meal (plus a beer!) all for $30! You can’t do better than that even at a fast food joint. It definitely won’t be years before I come back again.

The Menu has been drastically reduced. It was disappointing. As much as I love the little shop. I doubt I’ll go back. The food quality has not been the same in quite a while. The menu has been reduced by way more than half of what the used to offer. It’s sad to see an old favorite take a dive the way it has. That’s the way things go I guess.

Stopped here from IL on my way down to KY!! Everyone was absolutely pleasant and the food was outstanding. Heather was my server & she was awesome! Definitely recommend this place! The maple chicken is my go to every time 🙂

As I was driving along the I-65S this morning heading to Louisville KY, I felt like to stop and get something to eat. Since breakfast is the most important meal of the day , I thought I might as well drive to any Cracker Barrel restaurant on my way.
As everyone knows that Cracker Barrel is one of those places that knows how to draw people in! It us about the Southern charm and warm atmosphere have people stopping all day long for the tasty famous Southern-style food.
Luckily the restaurant wasn’t that crowded, so I could find a vacant table. The staff was nice and warm welcoming. I enjoyed my time filling up my stomach with some nutritious food then hit the road.
