Take a well-earned refuelling break in the heart of Manchester’s retail mecca. Sit outside in the upper food hall and watch the bustle go by, or join us inside and watch our skilled chefs work the woks. Perfect for pre- or post-cinema eats. No loudly discussing spoilers though, yeah?
East Asian street food and stir-fry specialities served in a minimalist space with shared tables.

Reviews
People make a place and at this place their team and how they respond to challenges do.
I was there with my daughter for dinner on 27/02 and we ordered a number of things. My dishes included the Edemama beans, served in the pods and they were lovely. My 2nd dish was noodles with chicken and eggs- this was very salty and didn’t taste good. There was nothing special about it, the noodles had no flavour despite the soup being salty.
When I was asked how it was I told them this.
A manager was passing and overheard.
Without question, the manager came over and offered to take the bad tasting one and made another recommendation. He said he didn’t think I should just eat the food if I wasn’t enjoying it. The recommendation was much better. It was flavourful and rich with lemon, onions, cucumber, mint. We cannot speak to the shrimp as we don’t eat shrimp.
I think they could benefit from better communication though as several wrong dishes kept popping up on our table and these could have serious implications for people with food allergies.
We were also sitting on stools without a back rest, which were uncomfortable.
I think it’s a bit pricy for what you get.
Would we eat here again?
Yes, we would eat there again though because I think this is a place where they would work on getting it better.
They have a new robot waiter which is interesting.
Keep up the good customer service and keep getting better.
This is classic Tampopo behaviour…
BUT
The real reason I’m leaving this review is because our server, Kez, was absolutely sensational. I don’t think I’ve ever had a more attentive waitress.
She noticed we had a load of spicy sauces on our table and she came over and told us she was going to get us some of their crispy chili oil because she noticed that we clearly love spice.
We had just poured the last of our jug of tap water into our glasses, and I just thought “oh I’ll ask her for more when she comes back around” – and THAT INSTANT she appeared and said she was going to get us another jug. We didn’t have to ask for anything!?! She’s so good at her job she anticipated what we needed before we even knew we wanted them.
The food is amazing anyway, but the service was unbelievably good. Kez is remarkable.
The food was absolutely gorgeous – beautifully presented and full of flavour. I’d highly recommend the Korean popcorn chicken, it was incredible!
The rest of the staff were amazing as well—friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm throughout the entire meal. The service was seamless, and the atmosphere was lovely. It’s rare to find a team that makes you feel so welcomed and celebrated.
Thank you, Lou and the whole Tampopo team, for such a memorable birthday experience. I can’t wait to come back!
We started with a seasoned fried, which was amazing, a bit salty, but the seasoning was really tasty. I expected it as a starter, but it came with the main dishes, which wasn’t a problem.
I had the Singapore Laksa, full of flavor with a coconut milk base. My husband had the Pad Thai, and my stepdaughter had the Tonkotsu Ramen – she loved it! Everything was delicious and very well made.
My husband enjoyed his Pad Thai, but we thought the portion was a bit small. It didn’t completely fill him up, but of course, that’s very subjective.
Really great restaurant, I can’t wait to go back for more noodle soups. I’d definitely recommend it.
As a small independent restaurant, the food was absolutely delicious—fresh, full of authentic far Eastern flavour, and a great variety to choose from.
What really made our evening special, though, was the service. Our waiter, Nikki, was fantastic! Very friendly, smiley and made us feel so welcome and looked after, which added a lovely personal touch to the whole meal.
A huge thank you to Nikki and the team.
Highly recommended.
We were greeted by Mick wearing a lovely smile, he was very welcoming and shared the menu options with us and made us feel instantly relaxed.
Both service and food were excellent and for great value too.
Highly recommend
The person who later came tried going through each section of the menu even though we were just trying to order our mains. They looked skeptical when we didn’t want drinks or order small plates. Atmosphere was not bad, but could be pretty loud if sat next to the cleaning area where dishes were vigorously dropped. Food was fine all things considered. Overall value was okay if you order with a student discount.
That being said, Badam was really nice and helped me choose my side: her attentiveness really made the entire dining experience a lot more pleasant.
Once we took out seat our server was Katya and couldn’t fault the service at all.
Highly recommend the Vietnamese coffee and the pork belly omelette.
We need one of these restaurant’s in scotland.
