We had a wonderful Iftar experience at Shalimar. The arrangements were thoughtfully planned with tables beautifully set up with fruits, snacks, and a variety of refreshing drinks to help break the fast. Everything was organized in a very comfortable and welcoming way.

What truly stood out was the attention to detail. There was a dedicated space available for prayer after breaking the fast, which made the experience even more meaningful and convenient.

Following that, dinner was served with a wide variety of delicious dishes that catered to different tastes. The ambience was warm and inviting, and the service was excellent. The staff were attentive, constantly cleaning and making sure everything was well maintained throughout the evening.

Overall, it was a well-organized and pleasant Iftar gathering. Great ambience, thoughtful arrangements, and very good service. Definitely a lovely place to gather with family and friends during Ramadan.

I have been coming to Shalimar for many years, and they have truly been a staple in New Jersey for over 35 years. Their food has always been consistently delicious and never disappoints. About a year and a half ago, they opened their new hall, which is spacious, well organized, and perfect for hosting larger gatherings and events.

We recently attended their iftar and had a wonderful experience. Even before maghrib, the table was set with a generous variety including chaat, pakoras, and a burger, with additional items like lollipop chicken added that day. Each guest was also served a mocktail, water, and dates to break their fast..

The iftar buffet itself offered a wide variety of dishes with plenty of options to choose from, making it a very satisfying and well rounded experience. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well organized. The service was 10 out of 10, attentive and efficient throughout the evening.

I have also catered from them for my own events, and guests always rave about the quality and flavor of the food. I highly recommend visiting and experiencing it for yourself. You will not be disappointed!

Visited Shalimar Grill for Sahoor buffet and had mixed experiences. Live omelette (chicken and cheese) was a highlight, and overall food was good. However, no water included in the buffet and having to pay extra for it was a major letdown. Tea and shai tukray were below average. At $40+ (including 18% gratuity and taxes) without water, it’s a miss for me. Won’t recommend unless they revisit their buffet package

We always have a great experience at Shalimar Restaurant! Our server Abdul is amazing — he’s always kind, attentive, and makes every visit special. Each time we come, he recommends the best dishes from the menu, and he never misses! Today he treated us to a new dessert planned for next month’s menu — the Toffee Cake — and it was honestly the best cake ever! Super flavorful, rich, and absolutely hit the spot. Highly recommend both the restaurant and Abdul’s service!

So I’ve been a LONG TIME customer of this restaurant since 2006 back when there used to be Shalimar Food Land next door. Since then, they’ve merged and become one. And just recently they really renovated the restaurant and dining room. The ambiance was very nice and the staff are generally nice. Very busy nights which is good.

While the food was generally quite good such as the Gobi Manchurian, the goat korma, cheese kebab, and palak paneer could’ve been better. Again I used to come here a lot and prior to the renovation, they used to have a very good goat korma and chicken cheese kebab. The goat korma definitely became more “light” while the chicken cheese kebab tasted a bit dry. The palak paneer tasted a little old. I feel like while the restaurant in general is very nice and welcoming, the food quality has gone a bit down.

Overall, the restaurant experience was nice, and while it was generally good to eat here with family and friends after many years, I feel like the food could definitely improve a bit. Again, it’s quite good, but I feel like some dishes like the goat korma, definitely used to be more rich in flavor back in the day.

I still recommend eating here though since they also now have a buffet and all. Definitely will come here again sometime! 🙂

We’ve been here three times, and unfortunately the service has been consistently disappointing. While the food itself wasn’t terrible, the experience was completely overshadowed by one particular waitress’s behavior. She was visibly irritated, RUDE, unwelcoming, and made us feel uncomfortable each time. After three visits with the same negative service experience, it’s clear this isn’t a one-time issue. Customer service should never make guests feel unwelcome. Sadly, we won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend it based on the service alone.

We heard so much about Shalimar and their food that we decided to try it out when we were in the area.

We went to try their indo/chinese food as well as their indo-pak food; however, only after we sat down and started to order were we told there’s no indo/chinese food as the chef didn’t show up. That was the start of their lack of communication and poor service which continued throughout the night

we ordered the chicken tandoori and a chicken handi plus samosa chaat. we also ordered tandoori naan, roghni naan, garlic naan and roti. the samosa chaat came out first along with complimentary papri. the samosa chaat was decent with good chole and samosa flavor and the papri tasted fresh. the tandoori chicken was average with some pieces being undercooked and others overcooked, but the flavor was decent. the worst dish was the karahi as it tasted as if the masala and the meat were cooked separately and then added in later. the karahi was not cheap so for that price expected better quality. the naan and roti were very good.

overall, horrible customer service coupled with poor quality food and high prices. my suggestion is save your time and go to Houston for better food quality and service

The food was delicious—Paya Soup rich and comforting, Mutton Seekh Kebab juicy, and Mutton Pulao flavorful. Kashmiri Chai and Mint Mojito were refreshing. However, the waiting time was quite long. Overall, great taste, but be prepared to wait.

At tried the buffet even though I wasnt familiar with the food and i dont eat much spicy food. Everything I tried was great from the mango drink to at least half of the things from the buffet. I didnt try goat and a few other dishes. I really liked the bread and noodles with vegetables and chicken. That was the same as a filipino dish i like (pancit). I thought it was great you dont tip when you get the buffet.
