The Chicken Parmesan I ordered was horrible. The chicken was good, but they the need to flatten the chicken to get a better cook. The sauce was great. The spaghetti noodles were disgusting. They were overcooked to the point of being mush. It was the most disgusting thing I’ve ever had in mouth and I couldn’t be polite, I had to spit it out. 3 different tries on the pasta and they were all overcooked and mush. No one should ever precook pasta, but I was told this was a batch that must’ve been overcooked. I was offered a different pasta noodle, but was too disgusted to give it a 4th try. I was even offered a dessert. I am disappointed that I didn’t get to eat or enjoy a meal I paid for.
We have recently relocated back in the Toledo area for work and are expecting to be here for the next few months. So on date night we got a little nostalgic…
And other than a very nice waitstaff that is were the positive ends.
I really really want this to be a 5 star review but it pushing it to just make three. One of those three stars is nostalgia talking. Let’s start with the google listing. See picture attached. No tables until 9pm? I called and they asked how many were in our party and when I said two they said to come on in. I was expecting a packed house but Excuse me at 8pm on a Friday only four other tables were seated and no one was waiting… but we waited 7 minutes to be acknowledged and seated. Several employees walked past us.
The food:
The bread was just a white bread loaf. Good but nothing special. Salad all iceberg takes like store bought bagged salad.
The main coarse: Fettuccini was at best awful. The noodle old and dried out and sauce was curdled, greasy, and separated. My husband who is vegan could only order salad or spaghetti. He said it was just OK.
Atmosphere:
Very noticeable upbeat 70s/80s music. Nothing romantic there.
While we still love the old trolley, decorations, booths many seats were torn and every surface looked worn and in need of scrubbing. Vintage is cool worn and in disrepair not so much. Not so much vintage chic as rundown waiting for a second chance.
I am not suggesting redecorate! The appeal is some of the cool decorations but do a deep clean and refresh. New table tops, reupholster seats, and fresh paint and wood polish would help!
* get rid of the ugly games (move them down with the others!) blocking the beautiful brick warehouse wall. Great photo op for your patrons and free social add op ruined.
It saddens us both to say we will probably not be back as it saddens us even more to see a legacy fade.
If we ever hear they have new energy we would love to return! I’m forever an optimist.
I would absolutely recommend this venue for a similar event.
The team has been working there for years – some even 20+! Service is small-town friendly, there are plenty of rooms for big parties and 4 tops alike and the prices are great. There’s currently a BOGO deal for entire pasta entrees.
The kitchen is a mostly scratch kitchen with the exception of then breads and pastas which are made in large pasta pots in the kitchen. The garlic butter is amazing and the lasagna and chicken parm were my two fav dishes. The Lambrusco is a yummy wine choice, and they offer Chianti and Pinot noir along with some others.
This isn’t the fanciest meal you’ll have in town, but the sauce is good, the chicken is cooked perfectly on the Alfredo and the parm, and the prices are right.
Come here for fun events like murder mystery parties and comedy shows on weekends! Also a perfect venue for group parties or showers.
