Quiet atmosphere, friendly staffing. Food was great, and spice level was perfect!

An excellent place for Indian cuisine where no Indian can get choice of low spices as well. Food is made and served on order so one can find his/her tastes as per choice.

Firstly they were closed for dine in, so we had to takeout food. The prices were ridiculously expensive for the dishes. $5 for naan bread is crazy. The biryani had nuts and raisins in it which is weird for authentic Indian food. It was really bad and didn’t look or taste like biryani. The chicken tikka was sweet and the saag paneer was watery and bitter. The naan was ok. Over all 90 dollars.
Had a bite and threw it all away, what a waste. Not worth a dime.
Go to Des Moines if you’re wanting good Indian food.

The place mainly caters to the young college students who prefer takeouts/delivery. It has sit-in place also. The food is freshly made and delicious. The owners are also super nice and courteous.

I decided to revisit India Palace tonight, it has been many moons since I last was here, and Iam left wondering why I waited so long… Everthing was excellent, from the service to the food. I ordered Chicken Nuggets for appetizer, it took about 10 mins after that to get them. They were real chicken too! They came with chili sauce, mint chutney, and tamarind sauce, also they brought me soy sauce on the side like I asked for. I had Chili Chicken with delicious rice for entree, very tasty and well done, about 25 mins give or take after I order, so all went well. Many refills on water and Coke, also had the bread (like Pita), I cant recall what its called, also very good. I left stuffed, not sure others complaining about portion sizes? Will return! No wifi or bike racks, catering and delivery though, outdoor seating when appropriate, rebuild looks fantastic!

My husband and I ordered the Vegetarian Dinner for 2 to go. We chose a spicy level of 2. Next time we will go with 3 or 4. Everything was very tasty – from the samosas (hot and crispy, delicious filling) to the 3 main dishes – a dal, a paneer dish and a veggie dish (aloo gobi) plus rice (I think it was Basmati). We also ordered raita and mango lassi (exceptionally flavorful and not too sweet). Gulab jamun for dessert is always my favorite – delicate honey rose flavor. More food than we could eat. Very good the next day warmed in the microwave. The venue is very basic – mostly geared toward takeout. We have been to India and this food was as good as what we ate there. We will be back, definitely. The owners were friendly and wanted to be sure we had a good experience. We did!

The food was served way too hot in plastic containers, even for dine-in. When I asked for a glass or metal plate, the owner said they only have plastic and foam. It is overpriced and not worth the cost.

I’ve been here twice and both times the service was excellent as was the curry. I’m particularly fond of the rice they serve. It’s a thin long grain rice, cooked perfectly of course. As of now this is some of the best Indian food of had in Ames.

I ordered more than $180 worth of food from them, and when I called to express my dissatisfaction with the biryani— which lacked flavor— the lady put me on the phone with the chef. He was very rude, saying, “I made your food. You told me not to put this or that.” I explained that I specifically wanted it that way.
One of the employees even asked me if I wanted nuts in the biryani, and when I said no, he replied, “You confused me.” Their communication skills with customers are terrible. When running a restaurant, they need to know how to treat customers properly. It’s not their home, and they are not speaking to family members. Customers are spending money; they are not eating for free. They should first learn how to communicate and operate a restaurant business effectively.

We come here every time we’re back to visit Ames, and the food is delicious! Everything is well spiced and I love to order a variety of dishes to share with friends.
