They say blessings come in threes and tonight they just happened to show up at the Old Country Store that we know as Cracker Barrel.
After being up all night with my husband who has stage four metastatic esophageal cancer and is now on palliative care,, I was feeling tired from the stress and hungry from not eating, I decided to get some fresh air and dinner with a Cracker Barrel gift card that was given to me for use during this trying time. Never did I know that this one gift card would shine the light of Jesus throughout that store and into the hearts of all around me.
It begin with me sitting down in a familiar room full of memories. I could not help but remember all the times David, Brittney, Cory and I shared a dinner in one of Ol’e Cracker Barrel’s dinning rooms. I could feel a hard silent cry welling up inside me and about the time the waitress approached my table, I could not fight back the tears. She very sweetly ask if I’m okay and tried to gracefully just let my tears fall as she meekly listened to my order. Feeling a bit ashamed I told her my husband had been sick and that being there reminded me of all our times together there. She seemed to perfectly understand.
When the food was ready, she brought out my dinner and to my surprise it was perfectly cooked. Not only did I go there to eat but I went there for an escape, a reprieve from reality. I needed something to go right for a change. I was so impressed with my dinner I asked to speak to the cook. An older man came out with a young man walking beside him. He must have been training. I told them that I was very impressed with my dinner and I explained why it was so important to me for my dinner to have been right tonight of all nights. I thanked him for the quality service he provided and explained to him that when he’s behind that grill, he’s not only cooking someone dinner, but he’s given them an experience and that experience may just be the one thing that makes things better for one person, for just a moment. Through his service, he allowed me time to enjoy my dinner, a time to breathe and a time to have a moment of peace. We did talk briefly about my situation and tears rolled up in his eyes. He thanked me for my compliment to him, shook my hand and said that he would pray for me and about that time the young man stepped up and said do you want to pray now. I said most certainly. As I took his hand, I waited for him to lead. He said oh you’ll have to pray, I don’t know what I’m doing. So I began pray right there in the middle of Cracker Barrel dining room with the waitress the main Cook, and the young boy standing over me as I sat at my table, leading us In prayer.
I finished my dinner and ask the waitress to bring the bill. She brought me a napkin with psalms 147:3 written on it “he heals the broken hearted and binds up their wounds,” she laid it on my table and said dinner is on me.
I tipped her and being that I did not have to pay I used some of the gift card to buy her a sweet bracket with crosses all around it. And a card to remind her of what kind of an impression she makes on the world.
But the goodness of God does not stop there. When I went to pay, I was bragging on the staff, the food and explained how I needed such an experience. The manager comes up to me and with tears in her eyes ask if she could pray with me and over David. What a wondeful hreartfelt prayer she led! There we stood at the cash register, crying together and praying together. I have been so very lost but God is revealing to me that he is near. God is sending people my way when I need them most. And for that I am thankful. And for the Old Country store that sits in Trussville, Alabama, they have a staff that has gone above and beyond to help a broken heart heal. And for that, I am forever grateful.

My mother had ordered this for thanksgiving. Aside from never receiving the confirmation email to pick up the order, we are finally given this joke of a turkey breast/ham….. This thing barely will feed two people…. You can see in the pictures how ridiculously small this is…. Best part this was basically $50…. If we had known how disappointing this was going to be we could’ve bought at least 3 or 4 of these at the supermarket for the same money. Do yourself a favor and don’t spend your time and a single penny in their food for the holidays…. I wish I could give ZERO stars….

Very disappointed today with the service and food. 2 tables had been sat after us and their food came out faster than ours, food came out after 35 mins and it came out looking bad , there was red/brownish juice of like raw meat on the plate with food on top. After I told the waitress Kristi of the food she said that is how it comes because of the country fried steak. I told her no I’ve gotten this plate before and never came out looking like this. She said she would have the manager remove it and come talk to us, asked me if I wanted anything else I said no because I was not going to wait another 35 mins for the food. She brought us our check and then never came back to check on us nor did she ever take the plate to the back.

I recently dined at Cracker Barrel in Trussville and had an outstanding experience thanks to the excellent service. Our server was fantastic! From the moment we sat down, he made us feel right at home with a warm and friendly greeting.
The server was incredibly attentive, ensuring our drinks were always refilled and checking in regularly to see if we needed anything. He also provided great recommendations from the menu, and the food came out quickly and perfectly cooked.

What stood out the most was his positive attitude and genuine care for our dining experience. It made the meal even more enjoyable. The entire staff at this location is clearly dedicated to providing top-notch service. Highly recommend this Cracker Barrel for anyone looking for delicious Southern food and exceptional service.

The food is always good at Cracker Barrel. Plus the shopping is great …lots of unique things to want and lots for travelers who may need something. I had the chicken and dumplings for lunch and there was a huge helping…..so much I couldn’t eat them all…and they were delicious! The service during our meal and also when we checked out was great. It was a great experience.

We arrived pretty late after a long day of work. Not single person made us feel unwelcome or hurried us along. Our server was kind and helpful and actually chatted with us during our visit, which doesn’t happen much these days. Made me wish we lived in the area so we could eat there more often. The food was excellent as always. I have always said Cracker Barrel has the absolute best biscuits at a restaurant. Their taste, texture and size are more consistent with homemade than any other place. Thank you for a truly uplifting experience.

We went in for afternoon lunch/dinner. I chose breakfast which I always do and my wife picked a different entree. This was one of the few times that we weren’t completely satisfied with the meal. When Krista came with the check, she asked about the uneaten food and asked if everything was ok. It wasn’t but we weren’t going to say a word. People have bad days and I get it. Well, Krista took charge of the situation and demanded we speak with the manager on duty. He was awesome but I failed to get his name. Just wanted to say thanks to them. Krista tops everything by being the most caring waitress I’ve ever had.
Was a good day overall and we will definitely be back.

The atmosphere was normal and enjoyable. The service was mostly good and we had a very sweet server. However, the food was horrible. The dumplings were placed over what tasted like canned chicken. I tried to eat them but after eating 1/4 of them I had a dumpling that was not mixed completely and had raw flour inside. My pinto beans were pasty. The potatoes and gravy tasted so bad I was nauseated. My husband had the meatloaf and it was cooked so well done that we couldn’t identify what they put on top of it. I could not even eat the cornbread. We did not send food back or complain to our waitress because it wasn’t her fault. My husband who never complains did say something to the cashier about the quality. The manager gave us a dessert card to use on our next dine-in (not happening). The manager asked if we tried to send the food back for something else and we didn’t because all the food was bad that we had ordered. We didn’t ask for free meal either because we just don’t do that especially since we didn’t give them a chance to replace our meal. I am disappointed that we paid over $30 to be nauseated for hours.

I had an excellent meal here. My server Aubrei was great. She made sure I was attended to. I had the sweet and smoky chicken strips which were great, along and dumplings. I also had the pancakes which were light and fluffy. No complaints here I will definitely visit again for the same service and quality food

I gave this CB a 5 for its OUTSTANDING food – but with other considerations it wasmor like an overall 4.5.
I should qualify by saying that as RV travelers, we utilize CB’s RV spots @ night alot when traveling through areas. Most of the time, since we’re just driving through, we drive until sundown & we’re stopping just to have dinner & catch a few hours sleep, so though we carry a stocked fridge on us the last thing we want to do is start cooking our dinner – therefore we do indeed reward CB’s for their RV hospitality by patroning them for dinner. This also means we’ve experienced the good, the bad, & the ugly of many CBs around the country. For the most part its definitely hit or miss on all factors: food, service, & atmosphere. Some do good in one or 2 factors, but terribly fail in the others. In the case of this CB the food was above par & service was excellent. The restaurant itself wasn’t the cleanest (but not the worst). The bathrooms definitely need a good deep clean & the overall restaurant definitely needs fresh paint & either new flooring grout (or somethingthing warmer-feeling than their standard cold-looking industrial/institutional tile), but do NOT take away your lattice, old man, or antique decor from ANY more restaurants! (as an aside, we’ve been to one remodeled restaurant in Hammond LA & like the lighter tan paint throughout with dark brown trim, but hated that they took out the lattice & antiques in the dining room – it makes it look/feel like your standard & horrible Applebee’s )
Regardless, my hubs & I both ordered the seasonal country-fried turkey breast with mac & cheese & broccoli . To our delight the food was one of the best meals we’ve ever had at a CBs. Everything was cooked fresh (in fresh oil), the breading was crisp & flavorful, & the broccoli was **truly** steamed fresh & also had that al dante crispness that properly streamed broccoli should have (imho). Also, we had to wait a little longer for our meal as they were making a new batch of mac & cheese and you could definitely taste the freshness. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal & appreciate our waitress keeping us informed & the service manager checking in with us, as well.
Also, we did RV boondock here this evening. The RV spaces were larger than most & the parking lot was large. No remote corners in tbe back to hide in, but still plenty of welcoming space & a relatively quiet location.
