I had a great experience at The Great Catch in Zephyrhills. I ordered a Shock Top beer and the all-you-can-eat Baja special, and the food was excellent—fresh, flavorful, and very satisfying. Definitely worth it if you’re hungry and enjoy seafood.

The atmosphere on the patio deck was very nice, even though it was overcast and rained a little. It was still relaxing and comfortable, and I enjoyed sitting outside.

That said, there were a couple of small things that could be improved. The TVs were stuck and frozen, so you couldn’t really watch them. I also noticed a fork on the ground that several servers walked past without picking up, which made me wonder a bit about attention to detail.

Overall, the food and setting were great, and I’d gladly come back. With a little more focus on maintenance and cleanliness, this place could be even better.

The atmosphere would get great reviews, as it has an outdoor, beach-like feel and a love-perokeet; however, it is parallel to a major road, and it’s definitely noticeable.

The live music was talented and not so loud that it drowned out conversation, an unexpected treat for us but an enjoyable Sunday routine for the locals.

Our table enjoyed the frog legs (pics) (very moist and flavorful), gator (pics) (moist and flavorful), and the salmon (pics), which was sprinkled with a flavorful seasoning and mostly cooked well. No complaints about the food at all.

The prices are high for seafood, but not so high that I wouldn’t return.

The service was average as we waited a bit too long to be addressed upon arriving, waited a bit for the server to appear at the table, and drinks weren’t refilled frequently enough. However, the server was pleasant and knowledgeable.

I had the endless crab and shrimp… dad had the shrimp and fries. It was delicious. no complaints about the food.
Although our server was a sweetheart, it was slow. I expected a longer wait for food. But it took 12 mins to get our drinks. The place wasn’t packed being a weekday so not sure why it took that long.

Yeah I’m definitely coming back here the next time I’m in town. Really great vibe and atmosphere and the food was great. Gator bites! Holy smokes they’re delicious!
For a Tuesday or Wednesday night quiet dinner this place seemed like it was thirsty for more excitement. I can imagine on a Friday night with some good talent this place would be amazing.
Service was spot on, so was the food. I’m looking forward to coming back next time I’m in town.

4-Star Review for The Great Catch – Zephyrhills, FL

Let’s get one thing out of the way first: the so-called “Authentic Maryland Crab Cake” here misses the mark by a very wide margin — it’s loaded with filler and far from the real deal. As a native Marylander who’s eaten hundreds of truly authentic jumbo lump crab cakes, I can confidently say this one doesn’t live up to the name. (There is one spot in Florida that gets it right — message me if you want the inside scoop.)

Now, onto the rest of the experience — and thankfully, there’s plenty to love.

Located at 5039 1st St, Zephyrhills, FL 33542, The Great Catch is a gem of a seafood spot with a fun, relaxed vibe and plenty of charm. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm, welcoming atmosphere and plenty of room both inside and out on the spacious deck. We chose to dine outside, where the weather was perfect, and it made the whole experience even better. The coastal-themed decor sets the mood, the playful birds add a touch of character, and the big screens around the patio keep things lively. Don’t forget to snap a picture in the giant chair — it’s practically a tradition here!

We also had the chance to meet the manager, who shared that the restaurant is now under new management. The best part? They’ve kept the original menu and the same talented cooks, so you can still expect that same consistency and quality regulars have come to know and love.

As for the food — most of it did not disappoint. The 1-pound steamed shrimp was spot-on: flavorful, juicy, and seasoned just right. The coleslaw was easily one of the best we’ve ever had — creamy, fresh, and the perfect complement to the seafood. Pair it all with a nice glass of wine, and you’re in for a truly enjoyable meal.

To top it off, there was a live band playing on the patio, adding an upbeat energy to the evening. The music can get a bit loud, so if you’re after a quieter dinner, you might want to pick a table farther from the speakers — but if you enjoy good tunes with your seafood, it’s a perfect match.

All in all, The Great Catch is absolutely worth a visit for seafood lovers looking for great food, friendly service, and a laid-back coastal atmosphere. Between the inviting ambiance, delicious shrimp, top-notch coleslaw, and lively entertainment, this is a place we’ll definitely be returning to.

I’m a big fan of the very laid back seafood restaurant. They recently changed ownership and I was curious to see what the new management had done. Actually, not much, and that is a good thing. They have added some chicken items to the menu, but I did not try them. I’m a big fan of the daily specials, and this time I went with the unlimited blackened Basa, which was very good.
Clean lavatories. Clean tabletops , silverware, and overall area. It can get very crowded in the evenings, so I would advise early arrivals.
Reservations for groups of six or more in Summer and 8 or more during Snowbird season. Karaoke on Monday evenings and live music most other nights
