I have not eaten at a Steak and Shake in years. I stopped here today and had a delicious hamburger, fries and chocolate shake. The staff was very helpful, as I had never used the app at the counter to order my food. Great customer service and clean restuarant.

This was easily one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had.
I ordered **2 burgers, 2 fries, and 1 soda through their website**. When my order arrived, both of my fries were missing. How do you mess up something that basic?
I called the store expecting them to fix their mistake. Instead, they told me **“you can come and pick them up.”** Seriously? The whole reason I ordered online was because the place is far away.
To make things worse, the employee on the phone had a very rude attitude and said, **“I can’t take care of you right now, we’re busy.”** So being busy means you just ignore a customer when your restaurant made the mistake?
That kind of service is completely unacceptable. If a business can’t handle basic orders or treat customers with respect, they shouldn’t be taking online orders at all.
Absolutely terrible experience. **Do yourself a favor and save your money—do not order food from this place.**

This place has made a complete 180. I wrote steak n Shake off for YEARS. Especially this one. Way back when, they locked the restaurant doors semi-permanently and the drive thru line took an hour. If you were able to walk inside, the workers ignored you until you left. Now!? You guys. It’s like a whole new place! The other day I drove off and didn’t feel like a pos. The nice lady in the drive thru thanked me and smiled at me. SMILED!! The food was delicious. I didn’t order fries for myself to save some money, she put a small order in for me anyway. She even told me that she dropped fresh fries for us. So sweet. I believe in fast food again and by extension… a slightly more magical world.

Stopped by this location twice in past 3 months, and both times the service was friendly and the food was delicious. They have enough staff to take care of everyone. They aren’t understaffed like most places. The woman who seemed to be the manager helped me with a special request, and followed up with me afterwards, and was going to all the tables to make sure everyone was happy. The food was delicious, as Steak n Shake always has been. They have enough employees to do everything that needs to be done, and the food is great. Five stars. On both visits, it’s the staff who made it great. They seem to be happy to be here, they are good at their jobs, and they’re friendly. One young man behind the counter was proactive – seeing an order that hadn’t been picked up (mine), and making an effort to get it to the customer. All of the staff are much better than typical fast food workers.

It seems to be taking the same suffering as any other diner type restaurant. You can tell that it was once a great restaurant, but now it has sort of fallen off. Bathrooms are disgusting to say the least and for being the only steak ‘n shake open late at night, it is in a very creepy and seemingly unsafe neighborhood. The food itself was good, though I’m not sure if it was because of the quality of food or the fact it was 2 am.

I love Steak and Shake and had moved away from an area where they are located. While visiting St Louis I stopped by the drive thru for chicken fingers, fries, a patty melt, and an orange freeze. The food has changed. The chicken fingers are so much smaller than before. The beef tao on the fries gives them a different flavor and makes the fries very greasy. The orange freeze tasted different like they were using orange flavoring instead of juice. The patty melt was greasy and soggy. Steak and shake used to be the best. Now they are just like any other fast food place. I see why their popularity has declined. It makes me sad.

Had to update this to 1 star.
Hadn’t been here in a while because they started messing up orders.
Went last night and I repeated the order twice in drive thru, then they had it wrong at the window, confirmed it again, heard them tell the people preparing the order the correct order, but still got the wrong order in the bag.
I eat out once daily. Used to be at least weekly at this location. Now its every 90 days but it will likely be longer before I come back.

I like Steak n Shake generally, but food was way too greasy at this location. On the plus side, restaurant was relatively clean and the annoying QR code reader for the drink fountain was out-of-order, so that was better than expected. Order by kiosk, and the food took a while but was delivered hot and fresh. So I’ll give the service a 3 even though there kind of wasn’t any. Also I paid for a large drink but they only had medium cups at the self-serve drink station. No big deal, I was dine-in with free refills.

The wait is crazy for fries and ice cream
This has been a very bad experience. This is one of the worst steak Shake I’ve ever visited. They are walking slow, taking the sweet time to place an order.
They are very disrespectful and seem to not really care about the customer I stood here almost 45 min and no one seem to care why I was here this is crazy and steak and shake used to be a good place and is no longer a good place the bathroom is very nasty and it messed cleaning the tables here are sticky and the floors are grimy and the manager will tell you if you want to eating you can find a clean place the trash cans are very nasty and full the crew here is very disrespectful and makes me not even want to order any more I do not like the customer service I recommend and I really wish they do better I’ve been eating here for almost my whole life and I’ve never experienced anything like this my whole like terrible customer service
